Hello friends.....
I am planning to visit UOP and UCSF....
I would like to meet any of the enrolled doctors (in IDP) who can share some time with me and guide me abt the do's and dont's for the clinical test ,interview and the selection procedure (for their respective univ) based on your own and ur classmates experience.

I would also like to know whome to meet at the addmission office.Esp for the UCSF as i am not able to contact them on phone.

One more thing....can anyone tell me how to order the candidate guide for the part II exarm.(i remember calling them for part I guide which i got in a weeks time),but this time i am not able to contact them, and its been over 20 days that i have send them a request mail.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Dushyant,

Did you try to look into ada.org website? I bet you didn't.

Anyway here is the link to NBDE II 2006 Candidates Guide:

http://www.adafoundation.org/prof/ed/testing/natboard/nbde_part02_candidate_guide.pdf

It's a 31 page pdf document. you can save/download, do whatever you like!

Good luck,

rahmed

Thanks rehmad...
But i am intrested in the printed version, which ADA people send us via the post.

Hey Dushyant.
I can only talk about UOP, since I have been there a couple of times ...
Since you have planned your trip already, I would say just "walk in" to UOP. You can not imagine how nice and helpful everyone there is. The only thing you would need to do, is ask which students are IDS and which are DDS since they all work together in the same clinic. Anyone there would gladly answer your questions.
If you still have more specific inquiries, then I would go to the IDS admission office (room 409). You need to ask for/speak with
Warren Chang
(IDS co-ordinator) 415.929.6428 [email protected]
OR
Patricia King (Director of International Students and Scholars) 415.929.6688
[email protected]

As for anything else UOP interview/application related, please refer to these threads (in addition to your visit)

I can tell you about UCSF. if you are planning to visit ucsf i can guide you.
you can meet petri gordon. he is very helpful. but I would call him first or mail him before meeting him.
Regarding the interview, the practical exam had changed quite a bit last year.
you can ask the incoming class of 2008 about the practical exam. they would be able to guide you better.
as for the written exam ,its very similar to part2 with emphasis on pros and perio(atleast it was when i took the exam).
hope this helps 🙂

HI ann....
thanks a lot.........

Have a good day.

Hi Dushyant,

The interview session at UCSF was for 5 days last year. During the interview we had first clinical exam, then Practcal exam and at last we had personal interview.

Clincal Exam,

I havent appeared for part 2 yet, so dont know hows part 2. But the clinical exam at UCSF was all about clinical questions and few from basic sciences. I would say they covered all the subjects whatever they mentioned in the interview letter. In the invitation letter they will mention what all the subjects they are going to ask u.

Practical exam,

When they will invite you for interview, they will inform you what all excercises they are gonna to ask u during the test. You have to do crown preprations on TYPHODONT teeth [ Columbia Typhodont teeth]. They provide u enough days for Prepration. Just few days before the actual test, they let all the applicants to come and do practice at their lab and on the same mannequins, on which u have to work on the day of test.

Personal Interview

They want to know more about you besides clinical experience.

They welcomed all the applicants very nicely. Their selection process is very fair. When they call u for interview, they will inform u about everything. I mean what all the Preprations, u have to prepare for the practicals. They will tell u what all the subjects they r going to test on the day of clinical exam.

If you have any questions about IDP admissions, you can contact Barbara Richardson or Petri Gordon. They are very helpful.

Our class of 2008 is starting in June. If you need any further help you can contact us.

Good luck

Thanks a lot dentisthoney,
that was what i was looking for.
It is very helpful of those people to let u come and practice before the actual test.if u dont mind can i ask u if u still have that letter with u which stated everything?
or can u suggest me where to get it from?
I must be sounding stupid, but i have very few options and so i wanna be prepared for it all.

BTW i had a talk to Petri Gordon ,and he was very helpful.

Thanks for all the information.

Hi Dushyant,

They send that letter by e-mail. So, all of the students who appeared for interview, must be having that letter. I am sorry, we are not allowed to forward/reproduce that letter. But if you come and see me personally in the school, I can show u that letter.

Hope all this helps.

HI,
THAT WOULD BE VERY NICE OF U.
ARE U IN S.F......COZ I THOUGHT UR BATCH STARTS IN JUNE.
i AM IN CALIFORNIA,AND WOULD SURELY LIKE TO MEET U IN PERSON.
THANKS ONCE AGAIN.
