It's safe. Like all major cities, there are bad parts, but UCSF is located in a beautiful area

It's in one of the nicer areas I've interviewed at. Much nicer than Newark, Philly, Cleveland, etc.

It's pretty safe, safer even than UoP's location in downtown SF. UCSF is near Ocean Beach and the Golden Gate Park.
