UCSF Interview!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm just curious as to some of those invited stats...

Alot of people have been invited here, but only 4 on predents...

Not that it helps much, my AADSAS status is blank and has been blank. I'm still waiting to get a request for the secondary.
 
we all got our invites fri after 5pm so we could not call in to schedule an appt....start watching on monday
 
Like i said I sent my secondary in last monday and my status is still "Received/Waiting Additional Information"....This is also the status of like 4 other schools that I applied to.
I'm going to call them tomorrow and see what is up cause I know I have sent everything in....
I love AADSAS!!!!!!!

Hey, do you have the numbers for out-of-state applicants? I'm away from my house right now and cannot see that "official guide to dental school book. thanks!
 
Wow, yeah it sounds like there are a lot of people that have the "invited for interview" message, because it says that on mine too, but I haven't received an email or anything in the mail. I guess I'll just call tomorrow along with everyone else.
 
well.. lets put it this way... I don't mean to offend anyone, but has anyone got an interview invite and don't think they should have because of their stats? I think my stats are decent enough to get an invite.

as do i.

look around at predents or some other threads...all of us have interviews at some pretty solid schools. personally i don't think theres any reason to doubt our being granted an invite, but i guess we'll find out tomorrow.

For out of state applicants, 86 interviewed and 34 accepted.
 
just called ucsf...its real :laugh:
 
OMG,
I called this morning and they said congrats,
but got a call back saying that it was a server error.
Man, I knew this was too good to be true as an out-of-state applicant.
I guess they meant "Under review."
How disappointing is this.
 
I called them, and they said they had a discrepancy between the AADSAS website and their own database. I am still "Under Review." I guess I'll just have to wait a little longer to see if they like me :-\
 
I don't know if this applies to everyone, but I got an email from UCSF today saying:
"I would like to apologize for the confusion; however the export from our database to the AADSAS database had a status discrepancy. If you received an update “invite for interview” this is in error. Your file at this time is “under review” and if selected for an interview you will receive an e-mail from our office and you will be able to schedule an interview."

This may just be for me however. My status on AADSAS never said "interview invite".
 
i got the same email, and my status did say invited for interview

for those that called and got invites, did you guys get the same email as those above?

Ugh. UCSF is becoming quite a roller coaster ride. I should have known with my stats (GPA specifically) that this was too good to be true. Still a chance though. Good luck to everyone else that was just uninvited.
 
i hope we will get to relive the exciting moment! we should make a support group for those of us on this roller coaster! lol:scared:

I feel ur pain...got the email yesterday...think I can get a reimbursed for the money I used to celebrate over the weekend? ha ha ha

Yeah dude... this is wayyyyy harsh. I dropped out of my chair and rolled on the ground in the fetal position crying "Nooooo!" when I receive the "oops" e-mail from UCSF. That's a pretty big blunder on their behalf. I wonder how many of us got the false invite. The only thing worse would be a rescinded acceptance.

The song from the little mermaid, "You poor unfortunate souls," comes to mind.
 
I didn't know whether to laugh or cry...
I can't believe they would do that...to raise your hopes up and then crush it with an email...
Why would they do that? It seems so unprofessional! Is this legal? 🙁

I was so happy over the weekend.

For those who got the false interview invites according to AADSAS, have they changed it back to "Under Review" or does it still say "Invited for Interview" ?

Still says "invited for interview."
I log into AADSAS and when I see that "invited for interview" I sometimes think that it could be from another school. When I match that it is still from UCSF, I get very depressed.

A little advice for the UCSF hopefulls...courtesy of Pdizzle.

If you haven't sent in your secondary..make sure you TYPE IT! I know a lot of people who didn't, none of which are siting next to me in class! 🙂

Second, if you get an interview before they dish out the first wave of acceptances, you are THEIR first picks! Remember that when you are there and don't be nervous. UCSF likes attitude. Be friendly, upbeat and enthused and you have a great shot. Smile! Be happy that you are there and you will make a good impression.

The interview is weighed HEAVILY and can make or break you. I don't say this to scare you but rather to give you confidence in that if you be yourself you can make it.

Gratz to all who got an interview. Good luck.

Keving didn't you apply last cycle for school? I for some reason remember posting back and fourth with you maybe on a case western thread? If so what did you do differently this year just out of curiosity to improve your ap? (as I am a reapplicant from last year)

Thanks for the info. I would assume they would weigh it heavily since its closed file and all. Kinda scary. How are you liking it there?

Anyone else status change back to under review on UCSF website after their interview?
 
For those who have gotten interview invites from UCSF via email, did it just say you were interviewing for their DDS program or the DDS/PhD program? Anyone know what the difference is during the actual interview day? Mine says the DDS/PhD program, but I am not really interested in it, just wanted to do their regular DDS degree... 😕

Call them to confirm it. According to Mr. Betzebe, the interviews for DDS and DDS/PhD are different. He asked all of the pre-DDS students if anyone was interested in the PhD, because they would have to interview again
