I am still waiting and what I am hating the most that Iam calling everyday and Jean is telling that my application is still under review and yestrday I asked her to tell me if Iam denied ( it's fine) and she tallen me that tommorrow (means today is the last day for inviting) but I couldn't reach her today) but by now Iam almost positive that Iam not invited there.😳
any way thank God for the UOP,USC,UIC invitations🙂

a word of advice.

don't call the admissions office everyday...

they absolutely hate it.

According to the ADEA Official guide to dental school, last year UCSF interviewed 213 students, and 106 got accepted. So we are looking at a 50% chance of getting in.

are these 213 interviews pre-dec 1st or total for the entire 06-07 cycle? how many acceptance do they give out to the pre-dec 1st interviews. and last question, how do you end up on the waitlist or alternate status list?

Maybe its total since there is no specification so pre-dec should be higher than 50% I'm hoping

i really hope so. i really need to get in. all my letter writer's left the institution in which i have gotten the LORs at. So i am basically screwed for next cycle.

I dont think 10/5 should be the last day for inviting..because their application deadline is not until 10/15. That just doesnt make sense, if someone has their completed application on 10/6 and they are a great candidate, that they wouldnt get an invite.

Keep your hopes up, most likely they will invite more people but at this moment they are filled up with spots for october and possibly november. After Dec. 1, they will issue tons of more interviews and I am absolutely certain about this because there is no way they will be able to fill up their class of 85 with the students interviewing now. I'm thinking that they will accept up to 80 students pre-dec 1st of which 50-60 students will put down deposits.
 
has anyone who scheduled an appointment last week receive their snail mail confirmation mail/info?

Actually I don't get you when you are saying that UCSF deadline is 10/05 and is not ,actaully it's 09/04 for the international applicants.🙁
 
i think they still have dates available for mid october--so coming up soon. Also anyone interviewing on November 9th?? Just curious..

Anyone looking for hotel?

I live in Berkeley, takes 50 min to get to UCSF. I research there too. I guess I can say that I know a bit about the school I guess. maybe, I can let you sleep at my studio if u wanna save some $$.

when did you call to schedule your interview?...i called today and they said only december and january were left so i took the december third one....

I called them today and they said the earliest date I could have is Dec 3...which is pretty late... is that bad?
 
I got my email on the 1st of this month, called Bob back the next day. He told me oct 26th was still open but i opted for Nov.2nd. Yes waiting sucks and I haven't heard from any other schools yet.😕
Ania, my gpa is 3.19 and DAT is average..but I believe that we can make it!
but I'm freaking out myself so who am I to say.haha

Nah I don't think that's bad because they do acceptances by accepting only as much as the available spots that they have little by little so that they don't accidentally over accept. The dec 1 acceptances will only be 44 students (half the class) as mentioned above but obviously there is a good chance that some of those students will not choose the school and then they go down their list. On average they end up sending out I forgot what the guy said like about 120-130 acceptances to get a class of 80 (when the class size was 80). Its just that they accept little by little so it may take longer to get an acceptance from them than other schools.



Oh we are a leg up this year because they bumped the class size from 85 to 88 😀
 
I was surprised to see people on campus interviewing earlier this week. Looks like things are going faster than last year.

I didn't get in on Dec 1, and I didn't fall into any of the three categories you mentioned. I got accepted in the second wave, so I'd say that it's too early to give up hope if you don't get in on 12/1.
 
It seems like UCSF is the first choice for a lot of u guys...right?

thanks for replying. can you tell us when you got your acceptance during the second wave? was it between feb-april or from june-august?

Yeah, dude. I got in around mid-January (around the time the 45 days are up from Dec 1). My PreDents profile is available, just click the link to the left and change the cycle to 2007.
 
I am there Nov 2nd too. See you there!
 
they have 4 dates in Oct, 4 in Nov, 1 in Dec, and 3 in January.

The most recent post ^ was for the December date, so there should still be 3 dates wide open for January, which I assume they won't schedule until the application deadline.

i checke my status online and it says, reject so go check your status, your might say interview
I don't have the scores so I kind of knew that its coming...this is a message for me👍

i got an email extending an interview invite but aadsas status still says under review.
 
I posted this in the housing section but I'll post here as well. I'm a D1 at UCSF living in a large fraternity house with many couches. The house is very close to campus and you are welcome to stay here. You can contact me if you would like to stay here or if you have any questions about the school. Good luck with all your interviews
