The dean of UCSF invites all northern CA newly accepted students today to meet with their alumni and future classmates at the Sterling Hotel in Sacto.
So of course I went because I want to meet alumni and my future classmates. It seems like they set up this party just for new incoming students. So, why not coming?

First, the dean was extremely nice. He knew my name right away when he saw my face. I'm very impressed with him. Dean Bertolami gave new students a special toast, and encouraged alumni to share their experiences with us.

Second, alumni are more than nice. They told us about their experience in school, how much they made. One dentist even told me how much he pays his associates, and the salary made my jaw dropped. Dean Bertolami laughed at me, he told me that I heard the correct number.
So, every one was highly encouraged. They told us not to worry about debt because we'll do well after dental school. One dentist even offered to help finding apt in SF for us. One lady offered work after graduate. And they said that they're willing to sponsor us for specialty program if the school send us to their practice.

Third, alumni all told me that they feel so damn good about their clinical skill that they were able to practice right away. 50% of them have 2 offices. I met lots of specialists. One dentist even had patients follow him from UCSF dental clinic to Sacto when he graduated from UCSF and settled his practice in Sacto. Imagine someone would travel that far for a newly graduated dentist? That guy must be good.

Fourth, all alumni are doing excellently well (in term of practice and wealth). They told me they were able to get their own practice soon after they graduated because tuition fee at UCSF is so damn cheap.

Fith, all future classmates I met today are females. All are UCDavis alumni. I'm so happy to meet them. They are all nice and I think that we'll have a great class.

They all assured me that I'll have a great time there. And the faculties are nice.
Now, I'm happy that every thing will work out for me in the end. I can have both research and clinical. And I'll soon join a special elite group of people.😍 😍
Now, I can't wait to start

Man..Tink...you are so fortunate. I really hope to join you all at ucsf next year.

Hey Tink:

You have just "heard" about the fruits of this profession. Just wait until you experience it. Remember to ask Dean Bertolami about the conjunct proposal about orthodontics laser research that we discussed with UCSF and PENN. Let's get that Patent.

Lasers do rule.

Thanks guys,

Desi, you should come to ucsf for post grad study. I'd like to do research with you. We can sure cook something up and have fun. And if nothing works out, we can fry our brains together instead.   😀 +pissed+

Mary, I sent you a pm.

Tink,

NOVA will be my top choice for post-graduate study (if I decide to specialize). By then NOVA will be a dental powerhouse, if my theories serve me correct. It's an IPO right now, but after seeing what I saw, in four years things will dramatically change. Their patient pool is phenomenal. Once they are well structured and get out of this [transition] phase their potential will be unmatched.

NOVA '03 ---> [TRANSITION '05] ----> POWERHOUSE '07

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

But I will definately look more into UCSF.

I never buy IPO stock, and I always remember that "Older is Wiser". Nothing against NOVA though. I think it's a fun place to be. However, I'll always go by what I learn on Wall St, because it has served me right in the last few years.

Talking about food, you have to go to SF. And the best sushi restaurant is in Philly.

The Warrior Chef is in Philly. Don't forget to check his restaurant out, desi.
