I have decided to not dwell on this admissions process any longer and look at worst case scenarios which is I am accepted no where.
My DAT/GPA are average or above average AA/TS 20 and GPA 3.5/Sci/Non Sci

I have great LORs/ECs but honestly at this point I feel like it is absolute INSANITY to apply again next cycle with the same stats and hope that this time around something will change or be better

Didn't a famous person once say that doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results is insanity?

I sincerely only want to go to UCSF and this year I got an interview but was not lucky to hear from them in their first round of calls/notifications

I'm looking into their 1 year MS in dental hygiene in which the apps deadline is March 31 and the program starts in the summer. I would enjoy doing this and spending the money while waiting for the actual apps for DDS/DMD to start up again. Would this help/hurt my chances with this school? Opinions? Advice please? Will this help with all other schools? I am in state/california.

I guess you don't want this bad enough

shouldn't you be making your application better if gpa or dat is the problem (average)?

i don't get it...shouldn't you be making your application better if gpa or dat is the problem (average)?
I don't feel like my gpa is terribly low or my score is terribly bad though

I did get interviews so I must be competitive in those aspects? I'm not sure what might have happened if in the end I am not chosen if I made it this far. However, taking classes to boost a science gpa or retaking a dat I don't really see as helping with my apps if I was able to get interviews

And I want to get a degree of some sort not just take extra classes which I don't think would do anything for my resume, so a masters in public health or in dental hygiene I think would help me be a more compelling applicant?

Do it!!! Always have a backup plan because times are hard. It will also help your GPA (which is fine by the way).

you can't go farther than interview? is personality an issue? also this cycle isn't over yet.

thanks, I don't want to be just taking science classes and boosting a GPA at 200 units, any A-'s are 3.7 points and would count against me really.

I definitely can retake my DAT but I feel like I should do more than that with just 1 year inbetween this rejection/reapplication period, it's a whole 1 or 2 years before matriculation into a DMD/DDS program meaning I could definitely apply for a masters of some sort and do more than just this.

I haven't heard from any school yet and I know this cycle isn't over but I want to prepare myself with options in case it doesn't happen. Deadlines for masters programs have already passed for a lot of them!

master program is a good idea. However, isn't that one requires u to graduate from a basic preparation dental hygiene program besides a bachelor degree!
