UCSF On Hold? Time to write Intent Letter?

So I was put on hold at UCSF. I'm not the least big shocked: I'm an out of state applicant (though I did get an interview at UCLA).


Do ya'all think writing a letter of intent would make a difference? Guess it couldnt really hurt. I'm not really sure what to say, I mean the only real compelling factor that draws me there (aside from the fact that it is a kick ass school) is that most of my family lives in SF. Any thoughts?

how were you notified of being on hold, and when were you complete? Yes, I think a letter of interest/update letter would be helpful, esp. since they explicitly say that you can appeal the decision.
