Has anyone been annoyed with UCSF's slow response time? or is it just me? I sent in my secondary on the 2nd of OCT and the status check still does not show that they received my app. I called earlier this week, and one of the admissions peeps told me to wait for a couple WEEKS!!! I don't understand it...so long of a wait.... on a secondary that basically only asks for your money. For those of you have gotten secondaries, how long after you send your secondary before your status on the website was updated? Also, what is the response time after they do receive your app?

It takes about two weeks or so for the data to be entered. I wouldn't worry, which I think you are. There is nothing you can do about it to rush the process. Just be thankful to have received a secondary.

What bothers me about the UCSF is that they only look at the AMCAS. I honestly thought that they I was going to have a chance to write something down. I have stuff that I have been doing since I submitted the AMCAS about 3 months ago, that I think adds to my application. But when I asked they were very rude and said something like "don't send anything but the secondary, we'll inform you of the decision made on your file". For $60 they should at least let me brag about myself a little bit.

Don't worry! UCSF is so slow. I file was completed for over 7 weeks before I was given an interview! UCSF, UCD, and Harvard are terrible about updating their systems. Hang in there. I'm sure everything will work out.

Thanks....did anyone apply to the JMP program? I called Berkeley to ask if they would give me the stats to the number of applicants & interviews granted only for the JMP program, but they told me those numbers are not released. I am just wondering if I made a mistake to take a month to write a research proposal, when I could have sent that secondary long ago...that is if those 12 positions are even harder to get in than the MD only program....

Fritz,

This sentence was on the secondary I received from UCSF: If you wish to update your activities since the filing of your application, you may submit a supplemental list (maximum two pages) to be returned with the documents listed above.

for some reason uscsf was pretty fast with turnaround time for me. i was complete sept 27th...just got the invite tody for interview ( 10/16). be happy to answer any more q's.good luck!! btw, haven't heard back from a number of other schools where I have been complete for much much longer, so process seems pretty haphazard! 🙂

hey, i sent them my secondary stuff about two weeks ago, and they just updated it to show that they had received my app. it also says to give them at least 4 weeks to connect your letters with the rest of your app so it can be reviewed...

Approximately how long does it take for UCSF to send you a secondary? I've been verified for 3 weeks now and have heard nothing. They did say 3-10 weeks, but that is a huge range.

it took me about 9 weeks to get the sec invite. pretty long time! but the turnaround for sec to interview was much quicker. sec is very easy (if you applying straight md).. no additional q's. hope that helps
