so i heard that being offered a pre-december 1st interview at UCSF is almost a guarantee for admission.

did anyone have a pre-december 1st interview last year at UCSF and not get offered admission?

I dunno if thats entirely true...look at the link provided below. If you are from Cali then the ratio is 1.5. This is not absolutely guaranteed that you will get in after an interview like some schools (UOP or UCLA) but its a pretty good ratio if i would say.

nothing is guaranteed. from what i remember, I believe ucsf's interview is worth about 20% of your total application. if you relax and be yourself, im sure you'll get in 🙂

did any of you recieve anything in the mail after recieving an invitatino email? I heard they send a comfirmation letter within 10 days but i haven't recieve anything yet after i sent them a reply email. And about the interview before dencember 1. I knew three people from my school who got interviewed with UCSF and did not get excepted.

yea u get a confirmation letter by snail mail really quick. i got mine like 5days after i accepted my interview.

i believe this stat incorporates all the interviews offered by UCSF, but not just the pre-dec interviews. Am I correct?

they were pre-dec interviews?

yes, they were pre-december interview

If you go to predents.com, you can find that it's only ~60% acceptance rate for pre-december 1st interviews. But, if you look at it closely, only those with low stats or a few OOS were not accepted. So, my guess is that the school gave a chance to people with interesting resume, but those who couldn't impress were not selected for admission.

I interviewed at ucsf on Oct 13th last year and they told us at the interview that if we did not hear back from them within three weeks, then that means there is a good chance we were going to get accepted. They rejected me on Jan 24th of, almost three months after the interview. So no, getting a pre-dec interview date does not give you a guarantee that you will get in.

Since we have opposing sides, I guess the next logical question to ask is:

Where did hurley987 hear this UCSF "pre Dec 1 + interview = guaranteed admission" equation from?
