UCSF is sending out rejection already???? I am sorry......
 
Why do you guys think they are rejecting people with high stats? any trends yet?

I finished the supplemental essays (and I worked really hard on them and they seemed really good/ interesting) and turned it in within the first week of August
 
I'm sorry! I know it's hard (got two rejections myself today). I keep telling myself to keep my head up and stay hopeful. You should do the same!
 
Some schools are quick, I got a reject from Midwestern AZ last week (thats fast since I only submitted on 8/24). I guess just take it in stride and mark them off the list as there will be more but all ya need is one!
 
So Sorry!!!...now it's making me nervous....did you get an email or regular mail?

Sorry to hear! I'm pre-optometry, also in the process of applying. How are they sending out rejections already?! Does dental school start in the spring or the fall?
 
Ok so i found everybody on SDN who was rejected and calculated their averages:

AA: 23.17
TS: 22.6
PAT: 23.3
oGPA: 3.66
sGPA: 3.64

Most were residents in California.

I'm scared what the OOS rejected averages are going to be :scared:
 
may be their system is all screwed up and all the students they set a side for interviews... are getting automated rejections......after all it's technology ..it can fail any time...
 
for those of you who got rejected, any status update on AADSAS?

if it makes u guys feel any better, dont worry UCSF is gonna get a heck of a lot more expensive. The UC Board of Regents just approved a 10% fee increase for the UCSF school of dentistry each year starting like next year. So in 2013, tuition goes up 10%, in 2014 it will go up an additional 10%, etc. More buck, less bang. Total ripoff if you ask me.
 
Did any of you receive an email subject titled "UCSF Dental: Received Supplemental-13" before you were rejected?

It just says the secondary was received and the app will now be put for review?
 
Does UCSF post to AADSAS? I got an email saying that my Supplemental Application was complete and that I could follow the status of my application on AADSAS, but I don't see UCSF listed on my AADSAS.

Going to call in a few hours (displaced Californian living in Michigan).

I honestly think it has something to do with the supplemental application. I thought the supp was really complicated (the timer thing really didn't help) and the whole "course credit unit" thing was really confusing. They said that if you don't meet the requirements, then you automatically get rejected. Maybe it was the way you entered the course units? Haha.. just a thought =/

I'm so sorry you guys got rejected, but if it means anything, I think you guys are really awesome 🙂 🙂

hmm... maybe its something wrong with the supplemental portion??? but i worked really hard on those and i double checked everything... maybe i could call the school to ask?

No harm in trying. They already rejected you and I'm pretty sure you can't get double rejected.
 
Yeah, I got rejected by email as well. I have a high GPA. 23AA 25PAT 21RC. OOS applicant.
I did the supplemental in a few days time (maybe I took too long? hah) I thought the whole credit entering thing was lame, confusing and redundant. And they said something about certain credits not counting. I don't know. I did put a little joke in one of my essays saying that if I didn't get in this round, my wife was going to make us hike the Appalachian trail (6 month trip...). Maybe that set them off? Or maybe they just didn't like my entire application. Who knows. Oh, I did only have a little over 50 shadowing hours at time of submission too.

In the end, I'm glad they reject me now than later. At least I don't have to get a ticket to interview at a school that doesn't want me. Keep your head up. Its still very early in the season. Loads of people who interview and are accepted don't attend, so you might have a late interview somewhere and hop on that acceptance list.

Oh man, that is really scary!!! none of my stats are that high! But also, I went to Berkeley so we worked closely with UCSF on many occasions...they REALLY like well-rounded applicants so even if you have high numbers, if you are kind of "boring" outside of academics (I don't mean to offend anyone!) by not having many extracurriculars/research/shadowing, or the letters of recommendation aren't that strong, you might still get rejected.

I submitted 7/27 and didn't get my supplemental app until 8/9 (submitted it 8/13) so I'm probably rejected for sure...I haven't even gotten a confirmation that my supplemental app was received. Yikes, though. I wish all of you luck with your other applications!

Maybe they are thoroughly looking through each application and maybe thats why its taking a long time. The secondary is long. So they have a lot to read.

Well rounded, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. Hard to say what it's going to take to get the golden ticket into this school.
 
Man, I hope they do start sending interviews soon! Last year, they started sending invites on Sept. 1st I think. This cycle has been slow. Hopefully next week will be good news. You'll never know since the school did send out rejections around 6-7pm when the office was closed.

I have tried calling yesterday and today to ask if there was something lacking in my application or if there was something I could improve, but all she could tell me was that they do not offer individual advising.

I doubt it has anything to do with entering course credits because on the supplemental, it states "Because of the volume of applications we receive, we're unable to verify coursework or approve courses for applicants entering the initial stage of the application process. You should use your best professional judgment in completing this portion of the application. A complete academic review will be conducted for those who are admitted. At that time we will determine whether specific courses satisfy our requirements."

so disappointed 🙁
 
AADSAS Update (just showed up right now...I check 2 times a day): 09/06/2012
Status: Received/Application Complete

Did any of the people who were rejected have this show up on their AADSAS account before the rejection?
Good luck though!
 
I have not received a rejection email yet 👍 but UCSF doesn't even show up on the AADSAS status updates...😕

that is a good question. somebody answer this. i just received the aadsas update, but no email.

Mine says received /under review.....please can someone verify if they got status updates before getting rejections.

I just notice the decision date "8/8/2012" when this decision was made?
 
mine was made 7/31...before i even submitted my supplemental.

This is starting to worry me...am I the only one without an AADSAS status?!?🙁

UCSF shows up on my AADSAS Status. The date matches the day I received their supplemental. Anyone else want to confirm that as well?

i dont have UCSF either on AADSAS 😱. my app was sent on 7/6. completed my supplemental on 7/31. Received confirmation of receiving my supplemental 8/23. Took them that long to send me a confirmation when its online application.
 
Hmmmm.my status date is of a day earlier (8/8/12) than when I received my supp. (8/9/12).

I was rejected on 9/5 but my AADSAS portal was updated a few days saying that it was recently updated on 9/5 but it says to check back in December 🙁
