Hi there!

Are there still members of this board, especially cali residents, who have gotten their UCSF secondary invite this week? They received my AMCAS app on 8/8 so it's been over 2 months....

Sorry I got it a while back. I did however get an interview invite this week. Just wait it out im sure youll get one too.:luck:
 
*sigh* i thought i had ok numbers but i guess they're not good enough for the best UC med school.

Ignore that thing - its a troll.

They got my AMCAS right about that same time and I got my secondary at the end of last week. You'll probably hear something soon.
 
They got my AMCAS on 8/20. I got secondary 2 weeks ago. My file completes this week.
 
denmark is a troll? lol how do you know already?

I started to think that ucsf stopped handing out secondaries. i would seriously be relieved even if i get a rejection notice from them, any notice!!

They received mine 8/8 too, still no secondary and I'm IS (sucks to be a CA resident for med schools). My GPA/MCAT numbers aren't as good as yours though.

i got my secondary maybe 3 weeks ago (though my amcas was processed hella early) and turned it in within 2 days. still not complete at the present. im an outtastater also, so maybe they put all my stuff in the wierd pile in the corner. Its a fast secondary (no essays if i remember). and i think your numbers are fine for a shot at an interview, ESPECIALLY, since your in-state. be patient, they're very slow, and good luck

Just to give hope to other outofstaters reading this, I'm out of state too and I had a pretty quick turnover between secondary submission and interview invite with them--without ridiculous numerical stats. Although, things are probably taking a bit longer nowadays so don't give up hope if submitted a secondary and it's been a while. Also, my file said complete at the same time as me getting an invite, which means if your file doesn't say complete that doesn't mean you aren't being processed somehow....

ah, just checked, my file became officially complete on 10/4. they took forever to render it complete! ucsf gets so many applicants so its understandable. hope to hear from them soon...

From what i heard, UCSF has a fast turnaround period... I talked to a guy from there.. he said.. it's usually within 4 - 10 weeks...

You mean from secondary to interview? Or primary to secondary?

wow it's been 2 months for me and i haven't gotten my 2ndaries, i guess that means i'll be getting a slim envelope in the mail soon.
 
fyi, if anyone is still interested, i just got my secondary invite yesterday after waiting since 8/4. my stats are mid 3-ish gpa from lower-tier UC, high mcat, medium/ok extracurriculars, in-state, and i think i had a good ps. good luck everyone

Congrats! now only if they'll just give me a chance too. My ps wasn't stellar but I was typing it in the first few weeks of studying abroad (yeah I couldn't finish it before leaving the US, had wayyyyy too many responsibilities).

Anywho, thanks for sharing.

i submitted my secondary on 10/4, and my status page was updated to "complete" on 10/19. how long did it take most of you to get the yea/nay on interviews from then? i know they say 8 weeks, but as with most admissions crap, that's much too general of a figure...im just curious (gives me a break from wasting my life checking emails)
 
It was over 8 weeks for me to get my secondary request
 
OOPs... my bad. From what I've heard, they usually get back to you in 4 weeks.
 
are you notified by email or snail mail (when getting the secondary)?

there is still a strong chance that you'll hear.. definitely. goodluck.

however, if you dont hear soon, and dont get any correspondence in the mail about anything, dont be surprised. ive heard a few stories of ucsf sending out rejections in march from previous applicants. they're slow over there.

whoaaa, I was verified 8/27 and it just changed my status to "we are reviewing your application." I hope that doesn't mean rejection 🙁 Is this the same message you guys had before getting a secondary? THANKS!
 
My status page said that for nearly 10 weeks. They say they will make a decision in 3-10 weeks and it seems that they usually follow this. Your time waiting should have started when they received your AMCAS. A decision will be coming your way soon.
 
Has anyone received a UCSF secondary who took the MCAT for the first time in August. My AMCAS was verified 9/22 and I heard from UCD, UCI, UCSD as soon as scores were released but haven't heard anything from UCSF and UCLA. Admissions said that it might be as late as December when I hear but that seems really late...
 
got amcas app revieved email on 8/8 secondary requested 9/28
hopefully a interview will come soon...

I actually recieved a secondary from UCSF before my MCAT came out. I'm thinking it was probably a fortuitous admin error? Not complaining. Rec'd Davis right after scores came out and not a peep from the rest of the UCs.

"Crapshoot" is the word that comes to mind.

After a while you can smell them coming.
 
How they choose who gets secondaries + interviews is maybe more based on stuff other than scores, I think, because this guy a friend of mine knows had higher scores than I did got rejected and I got an interview.

Is getting a secondary from UCSF pretty difficult? I read a few posts up about getting one before having an MCAT score. I've never heard of that before.
 
I have good GPA, and a decent MCAT. Definitely not in high 30's

Only about 25% of applicants get the secondary....so yeah, it's pretty difficult.
 
Teerawit and cal-girl, may I ask on what date were you guys complete? I was complete on the 19th.
