UCSF supplemental

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Why do they want you to send HS transcripts?
I hope they don't base their decision on my grades in HS cause I wouldn't stand a chance...

UCSF? They didn't request any transcripts from what I remember. UCLA did though (including HS), is that who you meant?

Nope... I didn't apply to UCLA.
On the UCSF supplemental it asks for HS transcripts if you:
1. haven't received your Bachelor's degree before Oct 15th, 2007
2. haven't attended a full-time term at a UC campus
3. and if you attended HS in the U.S.

Does anyone else have to send in HS transcripts???

OK my bad. I did have to for UCLA though, it must be a UC thing. Seems pretty pointless though. If your HS grades stink but then you did good good in college, I'd bet they wouldn't hold it against you. On the other hand, if you did good in both HS and college, it doesn't make any difference. The college grades should trump all previous. I wouldn't sweat your HS stuff unless you got expelled or something.

okay guys. i dont know if this will help anybody but hopefully it will.

I sent in my UCSF supplemental about two days ago. let me talk about some of the things I did that confused me a little.

1. about the font. i talked to the admission people and they said that just leave as is. they were aware of the problem and just try opening it up again later to see if it's fixed? I didn't have major issues with this one except on form D (the basic form) where you put down your college info..some of my typed responses duplicated with itself so it looks like a big blurr..but i still left as is. (if you really want..and this is what i did...i just put a little post it re-writing the info just incase they can't read it )

2. i had issues about how to score about the credit UNITS because my university (chicago) does it by semester. So. on the instructions, it said that 1.5 quater units = 1 semester. So that's what i did. but then i came short on quarter units for biochemistry. talked to admission director who went to my school's website to make sure and told me to do this. If biochemistry is one semester and it's worth 4.00 credits. THEN. multiply 1.5 by 4. The director was aware of the confusion and so they said that it's not a big deal and they do check with each school's grading policies but...tha'ts what i was told. If you have this problem. CALL and CHECK TO MAKE SURE with your school because every school is different! They were nice about it too so.. just call them and ask that you dont satisfy the prereq quarter units and ask them how to do the conversion.

omg. i wrote more than i planned. hope it helped someone out there. g'luck guys....

Hey just to confirm - by your method, does that mean than One Semester of 4 Credit hours = 6 UCSF units?

Nope... I didn't apply to UCLA.

Actually, it's a little more complicated than 1, 2,3. It says:

a. As of October 15, 2007 have you been awarded a Bachelor’s degree?
If Yes Stop. You do not need to submit a high school transcript.

If No Continue to the next question.

b. Have you completed at least one regular full-time term at a University of California campus [this does not include University Extension or summer session. This also does not include California State University (CSU)
campuses]?
If Yes Stop. You do not need to submit a high school transcript.

No Continue to the next question.

c. Did you attend high school in the United States?
If Yes You must submit an official high school transcript. This transcript must be received by our office no later than
February 1, 2008.

If No You do not have to submit a high school transcript.

So really, you only need to send a HS transcript IF you don't have your Bachelor's by October 15, 2007, IF you haven't attended one regular full-time term at a University of California campus, AND IF you went to a US HS.

has ucsf cashed the check for the supp app for those who have submitted already?
Mine was cashed last week. There was an email they sent out as well w/ a status website page to check (the page doesn't seem to be very current though).
