UCSF update?

Has anyone received an interview from UCSF lately? My application has been "in review" for a while now..

yep you gotta just be patient, though i know very well the anxiousness we all have. I sent in my secondary in august and just received an email saying they received it yesterday! so now it will be reviewed. We had a career fair at our school and a member of the adcomms was there so i talked to him today, he said they just have an enormous amount of applications so i isnt surprised i just now received the secondary received email. He also said that your application can either be invited for interview, pending, or rejected and that you will be notified immediately of the decision so if you are rejected you will receive a letter immediately. so thats good to know that you are definitely not rejected as of now. Finally he said there is one more interview day in oct, oct 31, there will be a view in nov, i think he said mondays and fridays, then a few in dec and a few in jan and thats it. Their final interviews will be january and at that point if you have received anything you are rejected as they will not interview beyond january.

keep your hopes up! but i also heard that they already gave out about 130 of their 200 interviews for the 80 or so spots. good luck!

wow..interviews stop in January?? Yea...hopefully an interview invite will come sometime soon.

can anyone confirm this? only 200 interview invites? I thought the number was around 300.

it could have changed, but this was what i heard from the adcom i talked to. they could be interviewing more due to the larger pool of applicants this year, but i doubt it. i can also confirm with homeslice, jan is the last month ucsf will be holding interviews.

i don't know for sure about the oos interviews, predents might have some statistics but not all. here are the stats of this year's entering class. http://dentistry.ucsf.edu/admissions/admiss_program1-stats.html

I thought it was 300 too since that's the number in the ADEA book.

300 does actually sound more correct. i'll double check with the adcom again. maybe the 200 he told me was just the pre-dec interview value.

I'd say it doesnt really matter first round, second round whatever since they only do interviews through january

keep your hopes up! i was convinced i was rejected from UCSF alrdy.. til an e-mail came last week, setting me up for Dec. 8th! 😀 there are still spots left in Dec and Jan it seems

Another thing is my friend who is a 4th year there told me that the number of spots this year will be cut from 88 to 80 so thats less spots there already =X And if they were interviewing roughly 4 people per spot, thats 30-32 less interviews this year.

If you're qualified--which you seem to be--you'll get an interview. We all need to hold hands and wait.
