UCSF Waitlist for interview

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Nope I don't know the answer. How did you find out about this post-secondary hold? Letter right?

Has anyone ever heard of this? Ever heard of anyone getting an interview after being held for interview? Any hope for me here? 🙁
I'm on pre-interview hold there, too (via snail mail). I'm not holding my breath.

hi.
I'm a re-applicant. Last year I was "on hold" to interview at UCSF.
It wasn't a good thing for me - I was rejected, appealed (because you *can* appeal if you're not offered an interview- read the fine print) and was rejected again. Bummer.
None of my "on hold" schools (which happened to be UCI, SF, Davis, LA and SD- what a statistical anomaly, huh?) ultimately interviewed me. I had never even heard of such a thing.
*BUT*
on the other hand, when I called, sent letters of intent, etc, the admissions office staff were cool enough to tell me I had a 50/50 chance of getting an interview.
You probably won't hear anything until the end of March. Send letters updating your activities through the beginning of March, seriously.
And best of luck. I'm not trying to be a downer, I'm just telling you my experience.
:luck:

i'm on pre-interview hold for UCSF as well. according to previous years' threads on SDN, about 200 people get the hold letter and 10% of those actually get invited to interview. as far as i can tell, any pre-interview hold letters are a bad sign. i don't understand why they won't reject us outright and save us the agony of waiting.

Do you have any stats on acceptance vs interview for this small group. My heart is breaking here -even though as an out of state person I knew it was coming 🙁

my info comes from a UCSF pre-interview hold letter search i did right after i got the letter. my guess would be that acceptance rates are the same (50%) for any interview group, regardless of a previous hold status or not. but that's just a guess. i don't know anything for sure.

You know, I think I'd welcome a hold letter at this point. The more likely alternative is worse. I know the mailman's schedule now. 3 hours late yesterday!
