Hi everyone,

I was lucky to receive acceptances to both schools but I am finding it hard to make a decision. I liked both schools when I interviewed, UDM is closer to home but Nova is in a much better location. The cost is around the same, UDM is probably better clinically but I feel like I would be less stressed if I went to Nova. Thoughts and opinions are welcomed, thank you!

when you are wading through a foot of snow from your car to class you will wish you picked Nova. lol just kidding. UDM seems to be a more established school but kind of like you alluded to, you should go where you think you will be the happiest.

NOVA!!!! I never interviewed there but my friends told me its an amazing school

It all depends on what you're looking for in a a school. There are pros and cons to both. If you prefer weather and environment, Nova over Detroit. If you feel like the clinical skills at UDM is stronger, then UDM over Nova. Pick a school where you'd be happy to spend 4 years of your life. Pick a school where investing a ton of money in for school won't make you regret it. I suggest going with your gut and doing research, listening to correct sources. Do not let people on here sway you from where your heart is telling you to go or feel like you should go. Because if you haven't realized, some people telling you to go to UDM are on the waitlist for Nova and some people telling you to go to Nova are on the waitlist at UDM. So I'd keep that in mind when making a decision. 😉

Good luck! And congrats!
In my opinion both are good schools, it just depends on what it is you're looking for and where you feel like you will most fit in.

I think UDM is better clinically as well. I have family who went there and went right into private practice. But Nova is in a superb location. Both equal out. Go with your gut!

It has nothing to do with me being on UDM waitlist, I interviewed at 4 other schools in the last month. Like I said I never interviewed at NOVA, I applied and got rejected. NOVA is an amazing school I honestly wished I got an chance to interview there. My friend who was accepted to NOVA said is was the best school he interviewed at but picked UMICH because of the price... he is also Canadian. If it wasn't for that he would have taken NOVA over every other school. I just gave my opinion from what I seen at UDM and heard about NOVA. Sorry if you thought I meant it in a different way.

I totally was not referring to you, I promise 🙂. And I didn't even know you were on UDM waitlist lol.

It's the voting on the poll and on other threads on here, it's so common for people to do that. I was referring to the fact that most of the people who voted UDM are on the Nova waitlist. Lol!
Plus, not trying to be biased, but I totally agree with you with Nova being a great school in addition to the weather and the area of the campus is so beautiful.

On the wait list for both-so no backhanded scheming here x.x I was honestly leaning towards NOVA because I straight up would be happier in sunny Florida, but after giving it some thought, UDM seems like the more professionally beneficial choice. Still leaning slightly more towards NOVA though.

I got interview at both but UDM was my top choice for OOS schools from the begining. I have my grandparents who live there and I love suburb of detroit so I'm biased but I wouldve chosen UDM over nova regardless. It is well stablished and have a great clinical reputation, hence a better choice if you want to specialize one day. I understand you would like to have less stress ; I was feeling the same way and was tempted for a while to go to Roseman ( because of their relaxed environment and block schedule ) but I knew in my heart that I rather be practice ready and have a better shot for post graduate.

Just realized that the first post was dated 12.14.14 ... which was for last cycle LOL
