I have this big decision to make. I got accepted to ohio earlier this month and I did send in my acceptance deposit last week, and a couple of days ago I got a call from UDM about being accepted. I know my parents deep down want me to stay in Michigan, but I don't know. I know UDM is moving to a better facility and has a great patient base. I just don't know which school to choose, because I'm sure in Columbus, being the capital city of Ohio will have a great patient base as well. Any opinions on which school is better or worse?😕

Don't stay in Michigan because your parents want you to, but don't discount the benefits of being close to family. Go to the school that you feel is the best fit for you. Why not call each school and ask them if you can come visit again. If you're in MI you can't be more than a 1 day drive to OS.
I'm at UDM and love it. Plus our new school is gonna be pretty sweet. You'll get WAY more clinical exposure while at UDM than at OSU. I'm sure OSU is has a good dental school, and campus is pretty sweet. My fiance goes to optmetry school down there and likes it but I don't know much about their D-school.
They're both good schools...kinda weighing the pros and cons...pros of udm, close to family, new facility next year, good clinical exp/patient base
cons: Detroit scares me and I always get lost there, tuition and low living expense should be peaking around 225,000, only get 2 weeks off for boards, i heard the funding for the move of the school might run into trouble and hike up the tuition, they have great clinical profs, but god awful sci profs
Ohio pros: get to get out of michigan and experience something new, people there represented their school well and left a great impression on me, i'm sure they have a good patient base since it's in the capital city
Cons: Tuition I have no clue how much it'll run me, and I'll be an extra 3 hrs from home (which doesn't bother me much since I don't go home that much even for an undergrad right now) Does anyone know what OSU's tuition is? I tried looking for it on the website and I only got one year and my friend in histo was saying I could get residency after one year living in Ohio. So yeah I need more pros and cons because I feel like I'm running around in circles.

Well I'm not considering anything, I'm still thinking, right now kinda favoring OSU and I already turned in my deposit and acceptace letter.....anyways not to make you do more work than you have to, but how did you figure that with tuition in general and how much for living expenses?
neither... invest urmoney in the stock market
Here is all the OSU info on cost:

Where did you hear that the move may cause a hike in tuition? Did you hear by how much?
i don't know how much, i heard a rumor, and even my bro in law who goes there said he wouldn't be suprised if they hike the tuition because of the move. thanks for the webpage is was very helpful🙂
when UDM sent out the blue folder in September, tuition in 05-06 was 36k-ish while total expenses was high 50k-ish. Acceptance package in December, tuition for 06-07 was 41k while total expenses increased to 64k. I wasn't expecting a 15% hike in tuition as this unexpectedly made UDM more expensive than out of state tuition at a state school. So take that 41k and increase it another 10-15%....
Well right now, I'm kinda forgetting about UDM and going towards OSU, but my parents are suggesting I should wait till mid January when U of M will give me an idea where I stand with them.😱
