Hey guys! I was wondering if any of you knew the UF interview process. I would really appreciate any help. Thanks!

Hey guys! I just got invited for an interview at UF for Feb. 29. I was wondering if any of you knew how their interviews work. What kind of questions asked, etc? I would really appreciate any help. Thanks!

congrats for getting the interview...can you share your GPA and PCAT scores? also, when did u submit the pharmcas and supplemental app?
use the search function (just type in UF or UF interview and you will find tons of posts)

Congratulations on getting the interview! How were you notified? You probably will not find a lot about the UF interviews because I heard they make you sign an honor statement or whatever saying you cannot disclose interview information on the forums. Good luck, I hope to get one soon too.

Thanks! I received a letter in the mail a few days ago. I submitted pharmcas in late nov. and the supp. like 2 or 3 weeks ago

Overall GPA: 3.76
Science/Math GPA: 3.6
PCAT: 91

Did you take any classes in the Fall? If so has pharmcas already received your transcript, calculated your GPA, and forwarded it to U.F. yet? Pharmcas just got mine and I'm wondering if I have a chance of getting an invite until the new G.P.A. gets calculated and forwarded. Thanks and congrats. What campus are you applying for?

I'm still finishing up my pre-req. I actually wont even be done until after summer term. Pharmcas received my fall transcript about a week ago, but has not updated my gpa yet. I applied to the Gainesville campus.

I just received my invitation for Feb 29th today. I am muy contento!

Here are my stats according to Pharmcas:
Overall: 3.77
Science/Math: 3.66
PCAT: 96

I will be interviewing on Feb. 29 at the Gainesville campus also. I just received the invite this weekend.

When I called, I was told they are looking for higher PCAT scores for now and work their way down. So most people who have interview now have 80-90 + PCAT scores. Perhaps they look at other things too.

Hey guys! Checked my mail today. I am invited to an interview for the Orlando Campus on March 14. Hope to meet you guys there!

Congrats! I hope your interview goes well.

Does anyone know if UF has a writing section for their interview? Also, what is the interview to acceptance ratio? PharmCas has some numbers but I'm not sure it's accurate. Anyone interview at UF and not be accepted?

Thanks

Hmm good question Tangent. Now I'm wondering if they have a writing section. I know LECOM Bradenton does not and I've heard Nova doesn't have it either. PBA on the other hand, at least from what I've read on here does have a writing section and a math/science test. Can someone shed some light on this? FishPharmD? I know you're not allowed to disclose interview questions but maybe you can tell us if there is a writing section? Thanks in advance!

Yeah, the numbers on PharmCAS does look good for people who received an interview invitation. Last year they interviewed 350 and accepted 300 which is a very good ratio. Don't know how accurate it is though.

Hey guys! I interviewed at UF in November and we did not have a writing section. It was about a 30 minute interview with two faculty members followed by a student tour! Good luck!!

Thank you for the information klc!!

I also have an interview for UF at the Orlando Campus on March 14. I'm kind of nervous about my odds of getting in. I figure that since I have the earliest interview date for Orlando, i shouldn't be too worried about getting in as long as i don't do anything crazy at the interview . I might be wrong about that, but at least it helps put my mind at ease for the mean time.

These are my stats:

OVERALL GPA: 3.96
PRE-PROFESSIONAL GPA: 3.97
PCAT: 92

One of the things that worries me is that I'm kind of young, 19. I finished 30 credits during high school, so that helped me get ahead of schedule in terms of pre-reqs. I only have an AA, which is the minimum for acceptance. I hope they believe I can handle the course-load.

If anyone has any feedback it would be greatly appreciated 🙂.

Congratulations! I think you will be fine with your 30 credits. Looks like we will be at the same interview. Where are you from? This school is my first choice lets hope we will be classmates!

wow, you guys have really good stats! 👍 Good luck to everyone who has an interview coming up. I am still waiting to hear from them. My pcat was 91 but gpa is pretty low so we will see.

Congrats on the interview... I am a 1PD at the Orlando campus now! I love it! Just make sure you are yourself in the interview and everything should be fine I'm sure! Good luck

I was the first class to have interviews ( last year).. We did not have a writing portion during the interview. Last year there around 1200 completed PharmCAS applications, 350 interviewed, 302 (i think thats the exact number) got in! So, Yes you can be interviewed and not accepted.

Good luck

Congrats! I hope your interview goes well.

when did you get your interview invitation?

I'm still waiting to hear about an interview from UF. I'm about to give up hope. Although, I was very late with pharmcas, (e-submitted Jan 3; mailed Jan 30). I've interviewed at Auburn and I am interviewing at UT on Feb 28.

🙁if only UF would invite me...

congrats on ur interview invitation. I had mine at UF in november. they were super nice. It was a large group though. I think there were about 20 of us that day. First u all meet in one room and u get an hour long talk about the school from one of the deans. They split u up into groups so that they can finish on time. An be honest is the one thing that I can say. They will really appreciate it. I had one question like that and instead of saying what I had learned, I blurted out the honest answer and they liked that and told me so too. I noticed they were much nicer with the rest of the questions after that. They were more laid back after that too. They even started cracking jokes on each other. Plus if u got invited for interview there, there is a good chance u'll get in since UF don't grant that many interviews. The number of interviews they give is close to the number of seats they have. Last year i think it was like 350 interviews for 300 seats versus other schools which are like 400+ interviews for 200 something seats. So good luck and I hope u get in !!

On the UF website, it says the gville interview dates listed as feb 29, april something, and june something (for people on the alternate list). Does anyone know if these are the only interview dates?

I see someone replied about a date in march? I've heard from almost every other school I've applied to, but I'm still anxiously awaiting a letter from UF! It's my top choice.

Hey everyone, congrats to all who got an invite! I got an interview invite for the Gainesville campus on 2/29. To those of you still waiting, keep your heads up. It took me about 4 months to hear anything, and there's still 2 more interviews after this. I'm very excited/nervous and wondering what to wear. What is everyone planning to wear? Suit or no suit?

It seems you have to really bomb an interview at UF in order to get denied... like getting caught in a lie, acting incredibly arrogant, inability to make a sentence. 😛 It's really just for the campus administrators to get to know you better. Don't sweat too much about it... think of it as an opportunity to tour the campus, get your face known by the admins and talk to other students.

everyone male and female came in suits at my UF interview. except for one guy. he came in casuals. i think khaki trousers and a shirt. but i wouldn't recommend not wearing a suit. u'd stick out.

last year was the first year they had to mandatorily interview all applicants, so they didnt waste their time and only interviewed 350 students for 300 spots, so if you spoke competantly, you were in. This year, they may or may not have changed their process, but it is a painfree, exciting, nerve-wracking process that pretty much guarantees you're in (or at least it did last year).
The questions are predictable, look up example interview q's online...
good luck, UF COP rocks!

and please wear a suit, don't look like a doofus... this is a distinguished, honorable event, please dress appropriately...

Ok. So we should wear a jacket along with the shirt and tie?

According to the interview letter, a sports coat is optional. I guess everyone decided to wear the coat. I would think the full suit with a jacket would be too formal. Is this not the case?

Dress to impress at any interview

I want to wish good luck to people who have an interview this Friday at Gainesville. It seems like not a lot of people on this forum have interviews with them yet or did not apply. I've seen a couple of posters that are going to be at the Orlando Campus with me on March 14. Are there anymore? Anyways good luck on Friday guys!

Thanks! I agree, it doesn't seem like too many UF pre-pharms on this board have this date. I am one though. I'm driving from Orlando, so the drive should take about 2 hours. Anyone else with this date, the leap day of February?

UF just got my app this week...so I'm still waiting to hear from them...and...hoping on the April date! You guys/girls gotta let us know how it goes.

Thanks!!! I'll be at the Gainesville interview tomorrow. I'm trying to plan responses for any possible interview questions. I'm from Orlando as well, but now living in Gainesville. Have a safe drive to Gville, tangentlink. Are you at VCC or UCF? And good luck to all!

Thanks. I'm a VCC student. I hope I can find some parking when I get up there. See you tomorrow.

I got my letter today from UF inviting me to the April 18th interview in Gville!!!

tangentlink how was your interview today? Did you like it?

The interview process was very nice, better than I expected. The faculty are very personal and conversational. I think most people in my group yesterday had good interviews.

any out of staters hear back? if so when did you submit and hear back for interview?

I just found out I got an interview at the Jacksonville campus on Apr. 25!! My question is, how long do you have to wait after your interview to find out if you're in or not? Also, does anyone know if they are interviewing "extra" people this year? Last year they only interviewed 350 people for 300 spots, and I'm wondering if it's the same story this year or if they changed it. Thanks!
Also, my stats, in case you're wondering: PCAT 95, GPA 3.9ish...

Does anybody know what it's like going to one of the distance campuses? I hear you're not even on campus every day? Is that true? What would the typical week be like for a person at a distance campus? Do you watch lectures online from home? I read about it on their website but would greatly appreciate more info. Thanks!!

can you give us any more information than that?

A. writing?
B. my letter said the interview would be 10-15 minutes, was it really that short? All of my others have been at least 40min.
C. What kinds of questions did they ask?
D. How many people were there?

We also didn't have a writing portion, which was a relief for me. The interview itself was really pretty short. I was surprised by the brevity. The questions are just typical interview questions that you might find at another school. Nothing too unusual. There were quite a bit of people there though, more than 40 I believe.
