Hey guys! I haven’t seen a thread for UF so thought I’d make one! Anyone know when we’re likely to hear back? I know their website says end of February/ early March, but was wondering if anyone could narrow that timeframe a little?
Also, anyone have any info about the program? Is it really 4 years long? Seems excessive!

I saw some posts from the last application cycle that someone received their acceptance on March 1st. I'm not sure if that was the earliest, or just when the first person on this forum was here to confirm, but I think there's likely some waiting still left to do. And as far as I can tell from the curriculum page, it's more like 3 years + 1 semester (which is still pretty long, lol). So 3 full years of Fall, Spring, Summer, and then 1 more Fall semester for the Capstone and "Residency: Doctoral Experiential" ...which sounds kind of intense, but that's UF and that's a doctoral program for you, I suppose. I'd be interested in hearing from any current UF OTD students as well though for some specific experiences and details about the program!

I never realized how tough the waiting period would be for all of these schools - it seems like March is approaching with molasses-like speed!

How funny I actually just got email from them! They said they will be sending out decisions the week of 3/5! So far away!

I know, I just saw that too!! When I saw the little email blurb pop up on my phone, all that was visible was a little line saying "Admissions update..." and I almost had a heart attack! LOL March 5th cannot come soon enough!

I GOT AN ACCEPTANCE EMAIL THIS MORNING! I am so so thrilled but now I'm torn between UF and one of the MS programs I've already accepted in Florida - it'd be shorter, cheaper, and I'd be working sooner and can always go back for a doctorate later....but on the other hand, it's UF and I really respect them as an educational institution. Is anyone else having this dilemma? I'm so torn 🙁

Congratulations! I’m having the same dilemma. Are you talking about FGCU’s program? I didn’t realize until after my interview that FGCUs tuition is almost a third of the tuition of other programs..

Congrats! I haven’t heard anything yet. Also, UF isn’t accredited yet... does anyone think this is an issue?

Congrats to you as well! And yes, and FGCU is one of my top choices as well, so I'm not exactly settling - I am really psyched about attending there. And their tuition is incredibly hard to pass up. Significantly less debt is no small deciding factor. I keep saying I can always return (maybe even part-time) for a post-professional doctorate if I find I'm out-competed by the OTDs flooding the job market in a few years, but I'm not sure how true that is depending on how the future goes, or how feasible it'll be in my "real adult" life. You know? I don't know 🙁

Thank you! I'm sure you'll hear back soon - decisions are going out today, so be patient! 🙂

And honestly, not really. I just doubt there's any chance that UF won't get accredited. Their MOT program was top-notch and their university is very highly ranked overall - they have a good educational system, I can't see where along the way their OTD program would fail accreditation. But I guess you never know.

I got wait listed this morning:/ thinking positive thoughts! Hopefully I am near the top since it was earlier on. Congrats on your acceptance!!!

For those who were accepted, did you get any scholarship money/ does UF give money? Still no decision for me

Anyone else still not get a decision? Maybe they’re sending them out in waves throughout the week??

I also didn’t get any sort of email, I’m kind of expecting a rejection though because my GRE didn’t quite meet what they wanted.

I'm in the same boat as you! Already paid my deposit at FGCU and then got accepted to UF so now I'm questioning my decision... have you decided what you're doing yet?

Congrats! Sadly I have not decided yet and am kind of agonizing over it every day lol. I think I’m pretty much set on sticking to FGCU but somehow can’t bring myself to officially and permanently decline UF yet. It’s such a tough decision. What are your thoughts? Which are you leaning towards and why? Maybe talking it out like that will help us both!

Hey! Just wondering what you ended up deciding. I officially sent in my acceptance form to UF so I’ll be attending!

How long does UF give students to accept their offer? I’m struggling with deciding to start school this summer or to hold off to see if I get off the waitlist.
