Dr. Sposetti called me today! I'm off the wait-list!! Glad I hadn't paid my $1000 deposit to Nova yet.

Congratulations jyc!! are you out of state or in state? Also, would you mind sharing your sGPA, EC activities and shadowing hours? I am on the waitlist myself and very anxious to know where I stand. Thanks! and congrats again!

Thanks! I'm in-state. My sGPA is 3.64. I don't have a whole bunch of dental ECs or shadowing, because I decided to go for dentistry probably only 10 months ago. I think they might have really liked that I just recently retook my DAT and did WAY better.

That's definitely good news for you. However, I can't help but wonder why I wasn't taken off of the list. I too retook the DAT during this past Christmas and got 22/23/20. I have a 3.66 GPA, 60+ shadowing with multiple specialties, tons of ec, volunteer, 2 leadership positions and a year of research. I am sure you deserve the spot but would appreciate any feedback as to which area you feel got you in (it could be the interview). Anyhow, congrats again. I hope I can still join you guys this year!🙂

LOL! I sure hope not Ninja. I just realized that jyc reported the sGPA which is definitely higher than mine. I knew the process couldn't be that random.

Well it definitely isn't a numbers game with UF. My sGPA was a 3.9 and my overall was a 3.97 and I got a rejection letter a few weeks ago.

Apparently I have a crappy personality...🙄

I could be wrong, but I think once you are on the waitlist it becomes more of a numbers game since we get ranked. That's a killer sGPA though. And obviously Colorado found you to be very competitive so you must have the personality too!

Hey hey, you don't have a crappy personality! I wouldn't take it personally. I have four amazing friends all with amazing personalities and stats (significantly better than mine) that got rejected by UF.. while I've been chillin' out on their waitlist for three months now. (They will all be going to fabulous schools in the Fall though, and I'm sure that they will all make wonderful dentists! Just as you will!!!)

I wish I knew what it was that UF was looking for (or not looking for?) It seems so inconsistent to me!
