UF Stats?

Does anyone have a good idea about what are good stats for UF?
and please don't say GPA 4.0 and PCAT 99%, because we all know that.

Although they consider the following:
Expected average GPA of the admitted students will range from - 3.45 - 3.55
Minimum overall GPA considered - 3.0
Minimum prerequisite GPA considered - 3.0
Minimum PCAT scores - 70th percentile

How easy is it if you got a 70 %
Anybody out there with this PCAT score made it in?

UF's average is a 88 PCAT and 3.6 GPA (but the GPA IS ONLY CALCULATED WITH THE SCIENCE COURSES LISTED ON THEIR WEBSITE, NOTHING ELSE!)

The courses are:
Chem I, II,
Organic Chem I, II
Physics I, II
Calculus I
Biology I, II
Anatomy I, II
That is it!

So no, I do not think 70 is good enough. Remember, there are rarely interviews at UF.
the three most important factors according to them in terms of weight 1, 2, 3 are:
1) GPA in prereq courses 2) PCAT 3) Extracurricular/Pharmacy Experience

So GPA and PCAT are heavily weighted here. Also, do not bother applying if you are not a state resident.

OMG. for some reason i figured public speaking was part of the prereq gpa. withought that, my prereq gpa is only 2.97. are you saying i applied last year and again this year, not even having a chance??? Also, the UF website and an email sent from the Pre-Pharmacy advisor, said the prereq min GPA is 2.5.

They told me last year they had so many applicants they need not even consider anyone with less than a 3.0 in their prereqs.

I barely have a 3.05 GPA in my pre-reqs but I'll have a bachelors after next semester with an overall 3.6-3.7GPA. It's depressing that I'll be on the lower range of consideration. 🙁

It's hard to get in and you have to work your butt off to stay in the program, too. They are figuring that if you don't do well in hard core sciences, then you won't make it through pharmacy school. UF is pretty hard core and not a touchy-feely school. If you have a personal crisis - too bad, you fail. You can repeat the class and give them tuition all over again.

Thanks, this makes me feel a lot better. I had 2 C's my senior year, and one C during my graduate program, but I've got a 3.7 for the pre-req's. I was wondering how they'd calculate everything, since those who already have a bachelor's in some scientific discipline could be at a disadvantage, considering the level of difficulty of those 4000 level classes. Anyone who had P-chem 2 can sympathize with me.

Is it DEFINITELY a minumum of 3.0 in prereq classes to be considered? If so, is there ANY way around that? I have a bachelors with an overall GPA of 3.4 and have taken higher science classes like biochem and microbio and gotten B's. I also have experience in a pharmacy and have a very good PCAT score. I can't believe that .03 points below the 3.0 required gpa would completely zero my chances. Does anyone know or know somoene who does cause the advisor at UF is not responding to my emails.

Yes. I retook Physics I & II, and am in the process of retaking Calculus. After this semester I will be up to about a 3.24. Unfortunately, UF won't accept last years PCAT, so I am taking that again in January.

You definitely need a PCAT of at least 80 and GPA over 3.0 I've heard of people getting in years before with pcat slightly under 80. But I doubt that's the case now. UF is so much harder since there's so much competition and they're trying to get into the top ten pharm schools. it should also help if you're already here.

I don't know anyone in my class with a PCAT of less than 80. Most everyone is in the upper 90's. UF has already been in the top ten for a while, not that it makes any difference.

There's one girl in my class that got in and she was from Georgia. We only had around 900 applications that year. If you are not a Florida resident your chances are slim to none. They let in 300 students, so your application would have to be outstanding. State schools give priority to in-state applicants.

I have a bachelor's from UF, a cum GPA of 3.4, a PCAT of 94, pharmacy experience....the only thing lacking is the prereq gpa of 2.97. I just wish there was someone I could talk to just to get my application from being passed by because of the gpa. I would really hate to have to wait ANOTHER year to retake classes to bring it up above a 3.0, but if that's what it takes, I'll do it.

I matriculated in 2004 and at orientation they told that they only accepted 6 out of state students. They also said that to be from out of state and accepted you must have a stellar application. Pretty much your chances are slim if you're an out of state applicant.
