Has anyone hear not heard from UF yet? I applied at the end of November and haven't heard back yet...which I'm assuming is bad news, but wanted to see if anyone else was in the same boat.

Thanks

Hang in there man. I applied in mid-October and got in in early November. Are you male or female? We need some more males so I can find a roommate! May I ask what your stats are? stats are important but they have to look at the big picture which includes community service, PT volunteer hours, LORs and maybe most importantly your personal essay. You can find mine in the accepted topic at the top of the forum under Seminolefish it's on the 3rd page. i went to an open house and got to meet and know some of the faculty which i talked a little about in my essay. i know that they don't finish accepting until the end of March so don't lose hope!

i haven't heard back either...i read in one of the thread that they were sending out the decision soon.

I spoke to them and was told that they have begun sending out decisions and will continue to do so on a rolling basis until the end of March or beginning of April.

Thanks for the info...I'll keep waiting on the mail with my fingers crossed!

seminolefish: I'm a girl, so sorry about the roommate thing! If I get in I'm sure I'll be looking for one as well. My stats are: gpa:3.4 prerec gpa: 3.56 gre: 1120 and I had about 100 observation hours in a few different settings. I've also worked for the past year at a sports performance training facility that works with elite to amateur athletes. There we work closely with some PT's to focus on injury prevention and recovery. My stats are fairly middle of the road so hopefully I stood out with my essay and experience!

Wow your work experience sounds pretty awesome! I knew PTs worked with athletes but I've never been to a sports performance facility like that. The closest I've done is outpatient ortho. I know at UF one of the ortho professors will take a few students who are interested to work with sport(s) teams. Not sure which ones but I'm definitely going to do it.

I majored in biochem and had a 3.62 overall and 3.73 pre-req and 1120 GRE. I know for a fact that they don't really look at the GRE scores after talking to them at the open house. I ended up with 225 observation hours in the ortho, inpatient, nursing facilities, and outpatient settings. I got them all in 5 months bc I didn't realize PT was for me until June of last year hence the majoring in biochem. I was actually thinking about doing peds but I couldn't bring myself to do it. lol. I called once and they said they didn't have an opening actually. Anyways, keep me updated on your status at UF!

I decided about the same time you did that I wanted to go into physical therapy, so I had to get my hours in kind of quick as well which was challenging since I was working full time. Working with athletes is a blast, but I like a lot of different settings. At one site I was completing observation hours I was surprised to learn how much I enjoyed working with the elderly.

Hopefully I will hear something back soon. My advisor at one of the ortho sites I was at graduated from the program at UF and wrote me a good rec, so hopefully that will help as well!

just found out I was accepted to UF!!!🙂

How did you find out about your acceptance? Snail mail, email, phone call?? I'm starting to get anxious lol

I got an email followed by a letter. The next month is big for acceptances so try not to fret too much. I just got rejected by USF but was accepted by UF in early November. Go figure; I'll take UF over USF any day though.

I just searched for posts by you, dpt4me, and it does not surprise me one bit that you were accepted... I said you would despite your GRE scores. I couldn't remember if I talked to you about it before but now I do remember. So you still waiting to hear back from UM and Duke? You got into USF which doesn't surprise me either but what surprises me is that I didn't. Well whatever. Last question though are you male or female? I'm still looking for a roommate.

P.S. My avatar takes up way too much space. I should be more conscientious of the fellow PT wannabe's/students lol.

I heard back via email they said an acceptance packet would be coming snail mail.......sorry I'm female but if you know anything about housing options please fill me in.....and yes still waiting on UM but would be much cheaper to go to UF! Its been a long wait applied back in Oct!😀

Did you send them an email asking when you would hear back or did they just contact you to let you know?

I did email them and they said that I would hear something in March. I have a few other choices, but the in-state tuition is a definate plus. 🙂

Did you join the UF DPT class of 2013 page on facebook? Well keep me updated. Cheaper tuition is ALWAYS a plus!
