Hi, I have an interview at JABSOM next week and am trying to find out more about the school. If anyone out there goes to JABSOM now or knows about the school, I would really appreciate any info, especially your thoughts/opinions on the curriculum and the MD program in general, and what you like and dislike about the school. It's hard to find people who know about the school firsthand since their class is so small. Plus I don't live in HI, I'm from CA. Thanks!

I liked the location. Nothing like the beach to take your stress off. But that is me. Aside from that:

Positives i found were the small class size, quiet study rooms, approachability of the professors, assured placement in Hawaii post 4 yrs of med sch, warm people, no competition (I like to compete with myself rather than others, so suits me fine), cross cultural environment, tropical medicine interests, PBL

Negatives are not well defined library, small class size can work against you if you are picky about who should be in your group, lack of support for USMLE's, there are very few out of staters (<5), so not much happening from mainland point of view. Yes, away from mainland so cannot find it easy to get residency match back to mainland.

This is my opinion based on my experiences, you may think of it differently. Good luck. Do tell us how it goes.
