Im an optometry student and my current GPA is lackluster = 3.0
Good lord, do they take professional school grades into account at all?? 😕

Sorry, yes, you will need to report you grad school grades as well. Not sure how they'll take a 3.0 in optometry school though.

Grad school grades are definitely part of AMCAS. Furthermore, it seems that most adcoms take into account a certain amount of grade inflation at the grad level. Most grad students who apply to med school are in some sort of MS-PhD program, though, so I don't know how they would interpret a 3.0 from an optometry school.

There is a belief (alternately corroborated and refuted here) that grad school grades are inflated because there is a certain minimum GPA required to remain in the program. As a result, getting a 3.5 in grad school is not given the same weight as getting a 3.5 as an undergrad. For this reason, I would suggest that someone with a 2.75 undergrad GPA cannot totally erase the past by earning, say, a 3.5 as a MS or PhD student.
