After much debate, I have decided to go ahead and continue my application to UHSUHS. But now I'm starting to think I might not make the cut....

Number one reason is, I have ADD and take Adderall and Strattera. I'm on low doses, and it's very well-controlled with no issues, but from the sounds of the "excerpt," the very fact that I'm taking these is possibly disqualifying.

Second, I'm very anemic. I don't really have any issues, but I have a form of beta-thalessemia. Never needed to be tranfused, but on paper my hematocrit and hemoglobin look scary-low (even though my body is used to being this way and it doesn't cause an difficulties with my activities- I'm a marathoner for Pete's sake!)

Can anyone comment on either of these? Especially for the ADD thing, I can't imagine that it really is disqualifying given how common it is....but the wording says "ANY psychiatric meds" are disqualifying.

Sorry, this doesn't look waiver-able. Imagine the risk that you would pose to your unit if you got injured and didn't have any more coagulant on hand.

Also;

I had my heart set on going to the Air Force Academy and had some outstanding medical issues that prevented me as well. Sorry 🙁

Meh. I'm not too crushed. I don't think my attitude was really right anyway. It was more like "well, I'm not nuts about the military, but will totally do it if that's what necessary to become a doctor." Bonus points that UHSUHS is within driving distance of my house.

I'm pretty girly and liberal anyway LOL. Probably wouldn't have been a great fit.

USUHS kids are generally odd. Great people, just odd.
