hey guys what's up

i'm currently attending a CC in ILLinois and is transferring to UIC this fall as soon as i graduate this awful 2 year institution.

the thing is ... i'm an international student. I'm from South Korea about 3 years ago, i first came to the states as a highschool exchange student at a highschool in Dallas, TX, and i came to the college right away. I took the GED test last year as soon as i became 18 so i'm actually an american highschool graduate.

1. UIC college of dentistry probably will be my first choice, and i wanted to ask you if it was going to be a plus for me that i graduate from UIC and apply to UIC.

2. What are some Dental schools that are likely to admit 'aliens' like me?

those are the questions i have so far and i thank you in advance.

I go to UIC right now, and just finished my interview for the College of Dentistry on Dec. 7. It is a HUGE advantage to study undergrad at UIC if you want to go to dental school there. Approximately 20 students out of the 65 are chosen from UIC. If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask me.

I guess you are having the same situation that I had 4 years ago. I am also from Korea and took the GED to go to a college. I am currently going to the University of Wisconsin-Madison and I have applied for dental schools during this summer. So far, I got interviews from Pittsburg, Marquette, Boston, and Tufts. So, I am guessing it is possible for an international student like myself to get into US dental school. But, getting into dental school is quite challenging so you prolly need to have decent GPA and the DAT scores. I hope this will help u. Good luck!

thank u for such a BIG information! I wondered if it was going to be the best choice for me to transfer to UIC and i think i got the answer now.
I'm not an illinois-resident and the UIC dental school says that they preferred illinois resident and does that mean internationals like me will have less chance to get in? and also, how is your school life there? OMG i have so many questions to ask you thank u so much again

wow you go to UW-M ! That was one of my dream schools well i have sent an email to the school and they said they didn't have any programs or courses provided for pre-dentistry so i took the school off my dream-school list long time ago and i guess it doesn't really matter which school i study undergrad at ?! nice to meet u and i wonder in which year summer u applied to dental schools? in your senior year?
