I just called them. They've given out all of their offers for now. They said the next round should be sometime in February.

I have an interview Jan 5. im out of state. I got the interview offer on Dec. 1. It wasn't an acceptance but Ill take it! The woman told me that there were 5 spots for out of staters. I feel so lucky to get an interview, but the OOS tuition is ridiculous ($60,000 not including fees and living expenses!) why so high? It's a state school

I hate to rain on your parade but, UIC should be sued for deceptive information practices.
Here's my rant:
- Tuition total estimated expenses for OOS D1=$74,372, D2=$94,466, D3=$93,996, and D4 $93,546 for a grand total of $356,380! 👎 and that DOES NOT include living expenses. DAAAMMNN! It's estimated because there are plans for an increase!
- Administrators claim the state is broke and receives very little by way of subsidies from state government for professional schools.
- The increase cost is for planned infrastructure improvements (God knows the place needs it, it's a dump for what they're charging) but no specifics on what type of improvements or when they'll begin; i.e., you won't benefit from them.
- To give you an even better idea, I'm in-state and total tuition estimated expenses for me are D1=$45,226, D2=$55,605, D3=$55,135, and D4=$54,685 for a grand total $210,651! 👎 That's only $8,000 less than another out-of-state school with brand new facilities I was accepted to. 😡
It broke my heart to turn them down, I'm from Chicago so I guess I should know better.
Do what you have to, but to me, this is a classic Chicago-style squeeze play!

Here's my rant:
It upsets me because prior to my interview I couldn't get any straight answers from anyone and had to press for specifics during the interview. To top it off and conclude my rant, the 20 or so students they selected to speak on the school's behalf were useless, disinterested and were only there to socialize with their peers and eat all of the donuts

. A couple of faculty members were nice, but others were quite arrogant.

Which school are you going to go to now?

DAMMMN is right! who would pay that!? I already wouldn't pay the 60,000 i thought it was. I'm considering an Army scholarship and that would be the only way i would go (if accepted). I have lots of friends here in Chicago and the city is great, but who in their right mind would pay that OOS tution? How can they possibly justify it?

Well, I'm OOS and I got accepted. The tuition is holding me back but I'm waiting to hear back from other schools. If not, I might be going to Chicago. You shouldn't underestimate UIC. It's a good school maybe not like Harvard but it's has it pros and it definitely outweights the negatives. Just to put it out there.
