When did you send in your applications?
I sent my application on June 10. Zurich, your stats are better than mine, so you will be getting a call for sure. Good luck.
Shizzle, my interview is also on Dec. 3 from 12-4. We'll see you there shizzle.
Openwyd,
Small world huh, see you there, and good luck!

GPA 3.35ish (will be rising after this semester of all A's)
Science GPA: same
DAT: 22AA/19PAT
Plus I go to UIC right now, which helps a little bit from what I've heard.

Are you guys juniors, or senios in college?
I'm only a sophomore (1st semester) right now. I'm planning on taking my DAT's next summer. I too am from IL 😀
Do you guys know out of how many candidates does UIC accept to invterview?

Can't give an answer on the number of invites for interviews, but I can say that if you get an interview you have a pretty good chance at UIC, as well as for most schools. They'll accept a good 70-80 percent of those who get interviews. I hope I fit into that stat. (I gotta get prepared for this thing and nail it).

Openwyd (and anyone else gettin an interview here),
I saw in some previous posts that a couple of your interviews have been kinda laid back. Don't want to scare you or anything, but UIC, from what I've been told by an advisor, is a little more serious. Interviews aren't one on one, so expect a few people, and it should take no less than 30min. The advisor said that they will also ask some scenario Q's. I've only interviewed at Boston so far and it was a piece of cake, so I've gotta brush up on my skills for this one. I'm sure we'll be fine, just wanted to let you know what to expect.
Obviously this info isn't from experience, but it came from a UIC college of dentistry advisor (she came to speak to our pre-dental club)--just want to share the knowledge.

Shizzle,
Thanks for the advice on the interview. You never do know how each school will be. It is nice to know that I have to be prepared for this one. The nice part is that I have two interviews (UIC and UNLV) in three days. I can prepare for one and I will already be set for the next one. I appreciate your warning. Thanks
Doctorsaab,
I finished undergrad in May 2002 and have taken some time off. Good luck on the DAT next summer. It is not too bad. If you do the work in your classes and prepare for it, then you will be fine.
Zurich,
Congrats on your interview. I knew it was only a matter of time. Z is the last letter in the alphabet, if that is how they did it.???? Anyway, I am planning on staying with a buddy of mine that lives near Chicago.

Thanks openwyd, good luck at UNLV also.
ShizzleDDS,
You go to UIC, can you reccomend a hotel close to the school? I need to get on this asap.
I really don't know of anything except really ritzy ones downtown. Nothing is in walking distance either, so you'll have to end up taking a taxi no matter where you choose.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Thanks, UIC isn't the best in providing options for interviewees. I think I'm going to stay downtown though. Good luck at your interview, i'm sure you'll do well.

Congratulations for those who got to the interview. In UIC, once you get to the interview, you are in a really good stand. They narrow the applicants from between 650-750 to 150 competitive applicants. They interview 110 and accept 65. These are numbers from the director of admissions at UIC. So be confident ! and good luck 🙂
650 to 750?
i don't think that's right.
last time i checked, i thought they average about 1,200 applicants every year!

openwyd,
I PMed you.
I PMed you.
Zurich,
I also had a very positive opinion of the school. You usually don't hear too many good things about it, but I was overall impressed. The school itself seems nice, and they're supposed to be upgrading (and have been for a while) over the next few years. The faculty was really nice also.

The area really isn't that bad, my opinion is biased though caused i've lived here for four years. It isn't the best part of Chicago though. I would definitely live close, don't want a long commute to put more stress on top of school. I would reccomend living east of the dental school, somewhere in between Ashland and Racine. My bro lives around that area, the places are actually really nice, but they get expensive.
How did your interview go?
How did your interview go?
Same here, I woke up early and have been calling ever since. No answer every time. I'm pissed, I've been waiting so long for today, and they don't even answer, they shouldn't have said that we can call if this was what they had in mind. Their answering machines said to check infosource, but I don't think that will be updated until friday.

Same thing again today. Called like 10 times and no answer. No update either on infosource.😡 😡 😡
Hey everybody, I'm sure I ran into a bunch of you during the interview lunch at UIC. I've been trying to find out about decisions and there never seems to be any reply. I've also tried e-mail and nothing. Did they mention anything about maybe recieving a letter by mail before the end of the year or was it supposed to be by phone? AS for infosource I checked the list today and UIC doesnt participate. Anyways, best of luck to everyone.

Did UIC have a SIM lab or anything simulation programs?
Also, did you guys get to see any preclinic labs when you visited?
UIC (like pretty much every other school) is getting a SIM lab within the next few years. Not sure if the '08 class will get to use it, but nice nonetheless. The preclinic labs were descent IMO, and the Second year ones were brand new. Compared to all of the other schools i've visited, I would say their facilities are very good.
