I'm in my second year of pre-pharmacy work and dreaming about University of Illinois - Chicago. I haven't seen any mention yet on here about UIC. I was just wondering if anyone is thinking about applying or has applied already. I only here horror stories and was wondering if there was any hope.
Current M/S GPA: 3.2
Overal: 3.5

Your weakness will be the fact that you've only done 2 years of prepharm. Your GPA is not that bad. For PCAT, aim for at least 80.
If you don't get in for Fall 2008, understand that for Fall 2009, there will be 50 new spaces at Rockford.
They do give priority to Illinois residents.

They are opening a new school in rockford? I never say anything on AACP website 😕

I have heard something about Rockford [nursing perhaps] and Peoria? as they had to send tests to the main campus for grading.

UIC pharmacy is opening up a satellite campus at Rockford for Fall 2009. Since it is not a brand new school, but just an expansion of an already accredited school, it does not need to be accredited separately. They do the same thing for the medical and nursing colleges. In fact, UIC-R pharmacy will be sharing space with the medical college.
They do look at other factors besides GPA and PCAT, but GPA and PCAT are weighted highly.

So how will the class work? Will people from the wait list be bumped into rockford when space runs out in chicago?

I don't know. However, if they do it like the med school, you will list your priority campus, or if they do it like nursing, you'll have to apply to each campus separately.
The satellite nursing programs are at Quad Cities and Urbana. They are not at Rockford.
