I know this was briefly mentioned in another thread, but it doesn't seem like there was any good answer to it.

On the UIC webpage and in the MSAR it states that you must have 3 social science classes, with 2 in a sequence in behavioral sciences, but doesn't mention anything specific. Then on the application it says that 2 of the 3 classes have to be psychology.

I have tried getting ahold of them, but haven't recieved a response via email, and I haven't been able to get ahold of anyone by phone. Are other people just ignoring this? Or will I just be wasting my money sending in the secondary.

I have taken quite a few anthropology and sociology courses, but nothing in psych, and now that I am a grad student I can't go back and take psych 101.

I'm in a similar boat, i have the psych but the other one I have is criminiology which would fit the category if you go by the college that it is in at my university but was under gov. and politics or something like that on AMCAS. I was gonna call and ask today....

I just called the office and spoke to a very nice and helpful lady. She said that the school is most interested in the psych classes, so I would say if you don't have the 2 psych you shouldn't apply. Outside of that she said if there is a course (my crim stuff) that is close to sociology that you have taken, put it in the box and then print out a course description and send it in with the application. Most likely they will accept this.

Good luck. Sorry to hear you don't have the psychs though 🙁

EDIT: Though I just looked through my course catelog and it looks like I don't have anything convincingly like sociology from their descriptions. (WTF!!) Guess I'm withdrawing my application there

Well maybe I won't bother wasting my money then. Their loss for changing the rules midstream. Should be fun when their alumni association calls my parents this year, my dad wasn't happy that his (and my mom's) school was pulling crap like this.
