Hello,
Im a D1 entering UIC in the Fall.
Im am planning on buying a new laptop computer and need some help with selecting one. Im not sure if I should get a Mac or a PC...also which is the best PC? I have heard that Toshiba and Hp make the best and to stay away from Dell.

Pleas help....Im confused😕

Hey I'm starting at UIC this fall too. Have yor joined the facebook group yet? By the way, I just got a Fujitsu tablet pc w/ Winxp. We'll find out for sure if they don't like Macs during orientation. They can boot Windows nowadays, so I'm sure it's not gonna be a problem. Personally, I would stick with Sony, Fujitsu, or Lenovo.

i work for PC Support at my college...... whoever told you that HP and toshiba made the best, was about as wrong as they could be......... we saw more HP and toshibas come in that were just so crappy that we didnt charge the people for our efforts trying to fix it sometimes, because we knew they would be buying a whole new computer

^^sorry, forgot to get to my point...... i highly recommend sony vaio's, they are worth the price premium

however, over everything else, i recommend you get a mac

After using pc's at home and Mac's at school, I finally switched to a Mac for my own personal use and I love it. It's fast, very user friendly, stable (no crashes, etc.). If you have never played around with one you at least owe it to yourself to go check one out before you make a final decision.

The only thing about my mac that makes me sad is that I'll occasionally have to boot into windows...

Thank you for your advice... I have another question...
I have never used a Mac and I was told that some of the programs are not mac friendly. I know there are ways to download programs, but isnt it very expensive?
