Hi guys! So far I've been accepted to Midwestern IL, UIC, and NSU's dental programs for next year and I'm stuck on which school I should attend. I've already eliminated Midwestern but now I'm deciding between UIC and Nova. I feel as though both schools are great so it's a tough choice! I also have another interview lined up at the end of the month. I'm from the Chicagoland area so UIC is definitely more convenient but I've also always wanted to go to school out of state. I'm wondering if anyone could give me some feedback on each school (like pro's and con's) that I should consider while making my decision. Thanks so much! 🙂

In my opinion, "wanting to go to school out of state" as a reason for picking Nova is kind of silly. Also, people on the internet can't really make your decisions for you. What did you like personally about each school? Will one be more expensive than the other? Which curriculum do you like better? How were your interactions with students and faculty? Which school has the better patient pool? Do you want to specialize, or just be a general dentist? If money was no object, which school would you pick? If you're from the Chicagoland area and it's convenient, why would you choose Nova? What about it makes it special? The weather? What attracts you to the school specifically? People can't make a pros and cons list for others, really, because different things matter to different people (or at least a completely valid list...). You should also be the one really making the decision... how angry would you be if you ended up hating your choice because you listened to a majority on the Internet?

Can't really answer the questions for you because I have no context. Personally... I know which one I would pick. But you do you. Haha

But the vibes I'm getting are that you want to go to Nova more, but you're having a harder time justifying the price tag to yourself because you're from Illinois and can obviously go to UIC for less money. So you probably need to decide how much money matters to you in the grand scheme of things. Which is always a hard choice.

Hmm I think you misinterpreted my question. I don't recall asking anyone to make any decisions for me. Quite honestly, I was greatly impressed by both schools on my interview days so I can't go by that alone. That is why I was hoping to hear thoughts from current or former Nova/UIC students, as they know the schools on a more personal level than I do. I don't see how wanting to go out of state is a silly reason for choosing Nova either, as my location for the next 4 years is a pretty big deal to me. But you're right, at this point I am leaning a little more towards one school. Thanks!

I loved NOVA and i don't know your expenses but if the difference isn't too much I'd think someone from the Midwest would live it here in FL

I seen a lot of posts like this, all I'm gonna say is if UIC is more convenient, stick with that as it will be the next 4 years of your life you want to be comfortable. You never know what'll happen in the upcoming years.

Nova is a great school, their staff and faculty is very honest. Dr. Lippmann from day 1 has been very honest and straight forward and never beats around the bush. The school is located in a great city called Davie. Lots of restaurants and placed to hang out near by. Its about 20 mins away from the beach. The campus is small but convenient.

What are the cost differences between the two schools?
