Hey guys,

First time posting here, and I am also on the waitlist at UIC (you guessed it, 1st quartile).

So, I called them last week and I asked them a few questions based on what I've been seeing here.

First off, they said that they have about 150 ppl on the waitlist right now, divided into equal 4 quarters. I know some have expressed a concern that *everyone* is in the first quartile, but according to the counselor, it's only about 40-50.

Secondly, the counselor did say that there has been some movement on the waitlist, but not much yet. I'm assuming that when all of the fees and the dates approach a bit closer, you're going to see a lot more open spots.

Finally, ppl on the waitlist can receive notice of their status at any time, not just at certain times during the month (like the first and fifteenth or something).

Hope that helps!!

i know they keep saying in the office that there has been waitlist movement, but has anyone heard of ANYONE that has gotten off the waitlist??

This must be nerve-wracking...hopefully some of yall get some good news soon...I wonder why they would be so shady about this whole process...

phone call at 10:45am. I had just gotten out of class. 😀

I wasn't expecting on getting in this cycle. Had turned in AMCAS a couple weeks ago. Was completely prepping for another year of applications(would have been cycle #3!).

Wow then a HUGE congrats on avoiding cycle #3!! I'm getting ready to turn in my AMCAS as well (later than I should, I know)... Start celebrating!

To those that just got in a few questions: are you in state? and also do you know what your campus assignment is?

Wow! Congrats! So glad to know it's moving!! I'm flying back to the US tonight!

I just called the office.

All they could tell me was that the waitlist is still open.

The rest of the info such as how many ppl remains/have been taken off could not be disclosed. 😕

They also don't have a certain time frame in which they expect more movement...

Anyone heard anything yet? Chicago orientation on Monday, Urbana orientation the following week...... Is the list moving?!!!

Bummer. Nothing yet on my end, but frankly I moved on psychologically about a month ago. I'd still jump on an invite, but I couldn't take the mental torture of constant wonder.

So I happened to check the application status page today, and noticed a change... It says a Final Decision was made 8/19/2008 (today)... Anyone else get this? I'm thinking this must be an official denial of acceptance, considering they said they'd call an email with an acceptance offer.

I just interviewed there last week and there were 3 SEPARATE interviewers (any combo of an MD; PhD; MD, PhD; NCC-Councelor, and/or med student). They were closed file for the most part, meaning they only had my essays. They don't have access to ANY scores and I don't think they even have your AMCAS work/activities (not positive on this, but pretty sure). Very laid back interviews, so relax and be yourself while you're in there. Look over the SDN interview feedback questions and you'll be set. Good luck! :luck:
