Okay, so! I have these GRE books sitting around, and... I will never need them again! Thank goodness!

Several of these books were gifts from the wonderful sumstorm, and another is from the lovely blackat33. And a couple I bought myself at some point.

Included in this package are the following books:

The GRE Test for Dummies
http://www.amazon.com/GRE-Test-Dummies-Career-Education/dp/0470009195

Writing Skills for the GRE/GMAT
http://www.amazon.com/Writing-Skill...=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1301371147&sr=1-8

GRE/GMAT Math Review (chewed on by sum's dog, not mine)
http://www.amazon.com/ARCO-GMAT-Mat...=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1301371199&sr=1-1

GRE Prep Course
http://www.amazon.com/GRE-Prep-Cour...=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1301371248&sr=1-1

GRE General Test
http://www.amazon.com/GRE-General-T...=sr_1_6?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1301371283&sr=1-6

Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions Course Book (from the online course)
http://www.amazon.com/Kaplan-Test-P...=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1301371374&sr=1-2

And, best of all... the flashcards!
http://www.amazon.com/Kaplan-GRE-Ex...=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1301371518&sr=1-2

I probably have older editions than mentioned in the links above, and some of the books aren't really that much help... but some are. 🙂

Here's the deal... post in this thread if you are interested in getting these books for free. You need to have at least 50 posts from before 3/28/2011 to qualify (no no0bs please, sorry lurkers). I will randomize everyone on, say, Friday, and someone will win a nice stack of GRE books.

Remember, these are for the OLD version, so you have to take the test before August. Make sure your schools don't want the new GRE test!! I don't want to mail this stuff for nothing. 🙄

I will delete this thread upon completion.

What a great idea! I will jump on the bandwagon here and give away my GRE prep books also. Same rules as TT. A lot of the exercises in some of the books have been done already but hey, it's practice and it's FREE. 🙂

800 Essential Words for the GRE by Barron's
Master the GRE by Peterson's (comes with a CD)
GRE Exam Verbal Workbook by Kaplan
GRE Premier Program 2009 by Kaplan (comes with a CD)
Bob Miller's Math for the GRE
GRE Math Bible by Nova (sections by difficulty and has a lot of very difficult questions which will help you get into the higher quant scores)

Also, 2 books on writing graduate admissions essays:
Graduate Admissions Essays by Donald Asher
Essays that will get you into Medical School by Barron's (also has a few vet and other health professionals examples)

I wanted to add that using these books helped me get a score of 750Q and 640V. Not guaranteeing that's going to happen for you but just sayin'.

And we'll make sure to gift to different people, lol.

All the ones that came with CDs still have them, too. And I got a 640v 650q... but yeah, I could have studied a bit more for the math part. 😉

Hey TT, why don't you just compile people that are interested and then we'll pick the top 2 random ones...?

(my laziness and your general organization skills at work here)

If either of you have any spares left (assuming not all are taken), can the forum nooblets have a shot at getting some of those? 😀

This seems like an awesome idea. If anyone else can share resources, I'm sure the prospective vet students would greatly appreciate it!

I am so interested!!!

I probably am disqualified as a vet student but my girlfriend would like them 🙂
Really just the math ones actually.

TT and TT (or shall we say TT squared 😉)

What a wonderful idea!! You guys are awesome!

As I already gave my GRE study tools to someone (figuring (well, hoping) I would never have to do it again) I would LOVE to have just the vocab flashcards! My math score and writing are fine; but the verbal really needs to come up up up. Also, I promise to pay them forward as they should be useful for both the old and the new GRE version.

Oh, I can vouch for those books because I have the same collections, which got me 650V and 740Q. What a good idea, TT and TT2! I might have given some away already. If not, I will also participate in this.

2019'r that's already studying! Pwease Pwease Pwease???

I am more than interested! 🙂 ( I don't know if I meet the criteria for your eligible participants though...)

Edit: Just read your post more closely. Your study material probably won't apply to me. 😳 I jumped the gun a bit there.

That's such an awesome idea! I'm definitely interested! I am waitlisted at 2 schools right now but I'm still working on improving my application and my GRE scores to prepare for the next cycle in case I don't get any good news.

If there are only two people interested, that makes it easier to randomize, but...

There has to be more people interested! Where are the hopeful 2016ers?

I'm a 2016 hopeful, but like TH I'm still a newb, sort of. I was a lurker for a really long time and still don't post a lot! So, if you don't get any more takers, add my name to the hat? 🙂

I'm taking the test in July so I'm definitely interested!!! I know I don't meet the 50 posts req, but just in case 🙂

There's not much interest her (not as much as I'd anticipated, at least) so I'm extending this until Monday and lowering the post count to 25.

Bakersdozen is out because it will be irrelevant for them... and wannabevet, will you take the GRE this summer or will you wait? Need to know if you're in or not.

C'mon people! I'm itching to get rid of these books. 🙂 It's a start to a long process of getting rid of stuff and preparing to move in a few months.

help my very lovely girlfriend get into psyd school 😀

Any updates on the lucky winners TT?

TT I am also willing to donate my princton review book for someone taking the test this summer. I also have math/verbal flash cards and well as some hand made verbal flash cards I made from other sites. So....add one more winner to the list

Se, here's the list and their assigned numbers:

1 - thought hammer
2 - vetme
3 - bbeventer
4 - equitate
5 - psorophoraferox
6 - graduatedly
7 - littlewiz

I used this site to get a random number two times, from 1-7:
http://www.randomizer.org/form.htm

Winner for mine - 5
Winner for teatime - 7

So, psorophoraferox - get a username that doesn't take so much effort to spell correctly and then send me a PM. 😉

And littlewiz, please PM teatime about her books.

Good luck to everyone taking the test. 🙂

EDIT: So, I did it one more time for savethewhales and the lucky number for her study material was...

2!

So vetme, you can PM STW for info on that.

maaaaaan. i want a re-draw! lol jkjk.

this was a really nice gesture on all the donators' part! SDN is awesome.

Yay 😀
This was such a good idea!

Thank you both!

My sad, sad practice GRE scores and wallet full of moths are flailing in glee!!!

So! As you all know, vetme was accepted off the waitlist and NEVER HAS TO TAKE THE GRE AGAIN! Awesome!

So, savethewhales will send her stuff to a new person off the list. Stay tuned for the new winner!

The new list...

1 - thought hammer
2 - bbeventer
3 - equitate
4 - graduatedly

The number, per the randomizer, was 2!

bbeventer, please PM savethewhales!

Awww maaan. This is why I never buy the lotto -_-

Btw TT, AWESOME avatar! Cracked me up

hey i too have alot of gre crap laying around here that i do not need. i'm up for giving it to any one. I dont know whats the rules of things now or i make my rule. let me know twelvetigers to see whose the next in line to win some GRE books. YAY

Alright, one more randomization results in number... 4. So, legitimately, graduatedly is finally a winner! PM chatter with an address to send the books to.

I fit all of my books in the largest flat-rate shipping box... it was pretty tight, but it worked. 🙂

I had too many to fit into a flat-rate box. ended up shipping via UPS, a TAD bit more expensive haha. but hey, its for a good reason. that's how I justified it. 🙂

I'm interested too! If it's not too late 🙂

GRE stuff: I have a whole bunch of books, including a very useful vocab book. I took the test in August 2009. I'd love shipping donations, but they're not required.

1 - thought hammer
2 - equitate
3 - Lab Rat83

That's the current list, I think. Anyone else? I can post specifically which books I have when I get home tonight.
