I was recently at our medical book store picking up a review book for my wife when I saw a new copy of "The Practice of Ultrasound: A Step-by-Step Guide to Abdominal Scanning" by Berhold Block on sale for 75% off. As a 4th year going into EM, I bought the book figuring it might be a useful reference. Its wrapped in plastic, so before I openned it, I thought I'd come here and find out if anyone has any experience with this book. I can always return it for a full refund within 3 days. It was normally $70, so I got it at a great price ($17.50 for the mathematically challenged...). However, if some of you don't think its going to be very helpful for me, I'd rather not spend any money at all.

Here's the amazon link for the book:
http://www.amazon.com/Practice-Ultr...03/ref=sr_11_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1234029247&sr=11-1

Let me know what you think.

Thanks!

Wow, I would really appreciate that! Thanks. I'll send you a PM.

Looking at the info on Amazon I would say that it might be a nice extra book for an ultrasound lover but for the average joe might be overkill. On the plus side you will probably be a lot better at gallbladder scanning and renal after reading it.

Thanks for your thoughts. After cracking the plastic and flipping through it (I was too curious), I decided it was worth keeping (a friend was interested in buying it from me). Although it isn't EM specific, it does cover some things that a typical EM ultrasound text might gloss over. It also has quite a few sample ultrasound pics, which is always good to train the brain for what to find.
