So it's definitely down to these two schools for me, but I'm really not sure which one to choose. I'm just wondering how other people feel about one compared to the other, it would really help me out. Thanks!
Oh, btw, I don't think at this point I want to specialize, mebbe get my aegd.

Have you looked at the viewbooks from both schools and see what their curriculum entails? Which curriculum do you think fits your professional goals best? (do you want to be a GP? Or an administrator? Or an educator? Researcher? Specialist?)

How do you like the locations? Do you like Baltimore or Philly?

How do you like the facilities and equipment?

Which school has a better patient pool?

Is cost important to you?

Is proximity to family a factor?

Are the students you saw during your visits happy? (Bright-eyed, bushy-tailed and peppy, or rumpled, haggard and grumpy?) What kind of "vibes" did you get when you visited?

Answer these questions and you will have your decision! 😀

I dont really know anything about Maryland, except I got rejected by them (bastards!) BUt if you arent planning on speacializing, I would say go to Maryland if it is cheaper. I dont see the point in paying all the extra money if you dont take adantage of the Perks Penn offers, such as Dual degrees and high specailization rates. Im sure both schools prepare you to ba an excellent general practitioner.

Yeah, I know about some of the statistical similarities and differences, but I was just wondering if anyone had a specific reason (besides money and location) why they would pick one over the other. Or even people who just interviewed at both, if anything struck them at one school versus another, cuz to me the school's seemed pretty similar and some other opinions would help. Not that I'm basing my decision on this, but I love getting input. Thanks!

hi springhaze, I interviewd at both md and penn and got accepted to both schools. I actually mailed my deposit to penn tonight along with my acceptance form 🙂. For me, coming from baltimore MD, the issue was getting away from MD for a few years, exploring a new city (philly). Also, I would like to specialize so penn I think would allow me to do that better than MD. Other than that, I couldn't find any other reason not to go to MD, it's really a good school, I've been there many times before I interviewd since I have friends who go there and they all love it. Another factor that kinda made me go to penn was that my parents live 15 minutes away from the school and they just assumed that I would live with them (after 4 years of college I wasn't feeling that), the money wasn't an issue since it's about the same amount, so I decided not to let it affect my decision, I really liked both schools when I visited them, but again, these are all my reasons, hope it helps, actually, I don't really think I helped but oh well 😀

I will see you at Penn next year 🙂

Congrats on your decisions, Ill see you guys next year!
