Hey fellow sox fans- I was all gung-ho to fill out the UMass secondary, but every time i sign on, it automatically signs me off after a minute or two - saying "Sessions expire after 240 minutes." Is anyone else having this problem or is it just something with my browser? I am pretty good with computers but I can't figure it out.

THANKS 🙂

Did you check your security settings? It could be that you're set up to block session cookies, which I think could be the problem...

Cookies is set to "never ask" and it looks from the list like the browser has accepted several cookies from the app website...

is this different from session cookies or the same thing?

so strange! thanks for your suggestion though..

I have an error everytime I log-in too. It says, ""You do not have access to this page! Use Maintain Security to add access to this page" I sent them an e-mail to ask what I should do. This is the first year they dont have a paper secondary so its probably just some technical difficulties.

I got that message when I tried accessing it from Safari (thought that would solve my other problem 🙂 ). Did you try from Internet Explorer? I finally got it to work by using my coworker's PC with Internet explorer. When I was having my problems, I was using my dumb eMac. Anyway, try explorer and let me know if that fixes it.

I didn't know UMass had so many essays...unfortunately i had thought they only wanted money 🙁

Yea, I used IE and it worked okay, but I still cant access some things, like my "to do list" But the essays are really pretty easy I think. Oh and BTW dont do off campus interviews, for the people that had them on the same day as me last year said it was a total pain in the ass, you have to take a bus to some of them just not aggravation you need on interview day, just say you want on-campus ones.

Edit: at least this year they dont ask the: what is the favorite book that you have read essay that they did last year.

Hey Jim, what do you think they mean by attachment to Massachusetts? Like, family, love of the city, cant live without red sox? Get made fun of when I say wicked cool anywhere else?

HA, umm i'm gonna talk about being born and raised there, high school, first two years of college, most of my family lives there, etc. Just the normal stuff. Stuff that would make you want to live there. Living down here in MD is definetly a pain, I only get to see the sox when they play the O's and sometimes they show the nationals games instead even when the sox are playin the O's 😡 . Don't forget the three-time Super Bowl Champs.....

Hey, I only get to see the sox when they play the phils, although last night I was at a phillies game and "watched" the whole game on the outfield scoreboard. It is similar to the fenway scoreboard except it has lights on each base so you can kind of guess what is happening.

Good thinking about the essay. I figured that kind of "normal" stuff is all they were really looking for.

So you are reapplying? are you getting deja vu?

good luck!!!

Not really Deja vu. At this time last year I didnt know about this site and was kinda goin through the process on my own and honestly, really didnt know what I was doing. I didnt have much research or clinical expereince. I was just starting my work at Access Ortho. Now I know what i'm doing, my MCAT is 5 points higher, I have a year of full-time clinical work with a great recomendation, research at the NIH on something no one has ever done before, starting my manuscript on a paper, submitting abstracts to 3 international conferences to hopefully present in the next year, will be entering Hopkins to get my MHS in biochem/molec bio, at the same time as continuing my work here... Needless to say I cant wait til they read my "what have you done since the last year" essay. I'm just much more confident and ready for the process I think. We'll see what happens...

Dude, that is so awesome. I am starting at UMass in the fall and hopefully, you'll be there next year. However, with all the improvements you've made, I think you have a great shot at a really top school. Though UMass is great too. I picked it over a few others that are higher ranked.
