Hi all,

Looking for some advice. I am currently waitlisted for PURCH and MD at UMass Chan SOM. I was waitlisted in about 3 weeks after my PURCH interview. From my understanding, possible outcomes from here are being accepted into the Regular MD only, PURCH or just no luck and being stuck on the Waitlist.

I just got a publication accepted 2 weeks ago, and I am unsure when to send them the update regarding it and emphasizing my interest in the school. I can see a world where sending it ASAP is best because "it improves my odds on the waitlist", but I can also see it being better to send it closer April? I really couldn't find any information on when UMass typically moves students from the waitlist (or what the odds even are), so if anyone has any advice on when to send it, I would greatly appreciate it.

Happy to fill in any additional context as needed!

UMass reported to the AAMC that they have 150 WL spots and 70 are moved off, based on the most recent data / pdf I could find fyi

If they accept updates, send it now, though unless its a big publication it may not move the needle much

It's March, so at this point, why not. You should be preparing for a reapp if you haven't gotten an offer anywhere so we know you will be updating this part of your app.
Luckily, I've gotten a few DO acceptances and 1 MD (thomas frist). UMass, however, is my dream school and my top choice :/. Thank you for your feedback!
