I'd really appreciate some advice between these schools!
Umass
pros:
P/F
rotation sites / hospital system is large
research is stronger
many home residencies
interested in east coast, very close to many cool states (been in west coast my whole life, so this could be fun)
possible
cons:
total cost of tuition (272K) - must remain out of state
class size of 225ish (honestly not really a con, I'm not stressing about this)
UNR
pros:
total cost of tuition (153K) - can change to in-state after 1 year
P/F
some research, not as strong as umass
lower cost of living
from Cali with some family in nevada, overall closer to family / friends, but still a flight
70 student class size
cons:
attendance required
few rotation sites, not as strong as umass
fewer home residencies
Both:
student run free clinics
cadaver labs
matches into ortho (my interest at this moment) - similar percent when considering class size
Overall, my concern is how valuable the difference between schools are. Does the research, rotation sites, and possible connections justify an increase of tuition of almost 120K?
