umd alumni reception email

Dexa, I got one too. I thought it was because I just sent in my deposit and told them I'd be attending next year... Are you going to Maryland too? Or did they send the email to all their applicants??!

I attended their alumni/faculty meeting in NYC back in November. They said that they have these every year but that this year, they decided to invite prospective students to join them. It was a chance to hang out with the administrative staff as well as the dean of the school and to let them get to know you. The NYC one had an open bar so most of the people there were pretty wasted. Just control what you consume so that you won't totally humiliate yourself and just be yourself. I was very intimidated at first because I was going to be around all these really important people but after a while (and two glasses of wine), I didnt feel intimidated at all.
