i am up for it too! i just sent in my application though....how hard is it to enroll?...and past participants...how did you guys room?
BUT im not sure......like marina said this is her 2nd time applying....
What is the program?
inside scoop is that there are a couple hundred apps for 30 seats
😳i thought the deadline was june/july 1st depending on which campus you apply to.
NJ Dental, I am SO glad that you made that post. I read it at 3am Friday morning, and I rushed to overnight all of my info for the application. I have been praying for an opportunity like this; this program seems to be exactly what I was looking for!
It's rough that there are so many apps for just 30 spots. But the selection process seems to be fair. Most of the other programs seem to be for minorities only.
Thanks again!
when i was in the program, i was told there were 300 applicants for the 30 spots. i did the jan 07 session.
Has anyone heard any responses from the Gateway to Dentistry Program yet? I'm pretty sure I read we all would find out by April 11th.
Yup April 11th is when everyone is supposed to find out.
Any word on how many people applied this year?
Congrats toothes....why didn't you want to share? And do you mind posting your GPA/DAT & EC's stats? Again, nice job.I didn't want to share this, but I got in.
Well I just got my rejection letter.
It includes these interesting sentences:
As you know, selection for this program is highly competitive.
We received an unusually large number of qualified applications for the upcoming session.
I am not sure exactly what they mean by that, seeing as they took what appear to be the least qualified students. I'll give them a call tomorrow and ask if there is anything I can do if I apply for the next session. Frustrating, to say the least. I really wanted this.
God is faithful though.....no sense in me worrying about it.

Sorry for the comment made out of frustration. I do not think that they are taking the least qualified; to be fair, it is also clear that they are not taking the 30 most qualified students either. People with 3.0-3.5, no DAT, and no dental experience were accepted; people with 3.3-3.9, 21 DAT, and TONS of research and dental experience were rejected. However, there are clearly many other students and you're right, I don't know if all of them had such low GPAs.I didn't feel like sharing because there were others with better stats that didn't get in. I guess I got pretty lucky. I sort of want to keep myself anonymous too. I recently became interested in dentistry so I don't have any previous dental experience and did not take the DAT yet because I'm just finishing up my sophomore year. My GPA is between 3.0-3.5 right now. ECs? Uhh.. not much. Maybe it was my awesome three sentences of why I was interested in this program... who knows.
