Bizznet, ToothFarez, how will this affect your decision to attend this program? Did they mention why it got full so fast? It seems like they send out acceptances in waves, so I do not know why they did not say something earlier...
 
I already put my deposit down at UMDNJ. But I still have acceptances at other schools so I am still thinking....
 
I am still planning to attend umdnj. That class alone was not my only reason for wanting to attend there.

Do you guys believe they can make exceptions and allow us to take another dental class with their students?

That is what I was confused about, but the tone of the acceptance letter is along the lines of "be f###ing grateful we are even letting you choose." They say we are not promised to these just because we are accepted. So, unless whoever wrote the letter was having a rainy day, I doubt it.

But hey, call and ask. They are courteous!
 
I was recently accepted to this program. Does anyone know if the MGM class is full already? I'm doing Med route, any other Meds out there that are considering doing this program?
 
Does anybody know the stats on the UMDNJ-Newark MS? How many students get into medical school after completing the program? How many students get into the other UMDNJs? I submitted my signature page to the MS program at UMDNJ in stratford about 1.5 months ago, but I just got my accpetance letter to the MS program in Newark. I am afraid that if I turn down the stratford program, then I will never get into UMDNJ-SOM because they will black label my file. I am really trying hard to find out how many students after completing these programs get into medical school.
 
Hey, I was just accepted to the UMDNJ BMS program in Newark as a pre-med. I'm an NJ resident, but live 45 mins away so I am undecided about living near campus or commuting. Anybody else in the same situation - deciding between living there or driving? Anyone looking for housing/roommates? Also, is there a facebook group for accepted students we could join?
 
Hello to anyone who has been accepted to the GSBS at Newark, NJ. We are currently looking for another roomate, male or female, who would be interested in sharing a 4 bedroom house to keep cost low.

I'm pre-dent, however pre-meds are welcome.

Ey Bizznet. I'm from UF also n just sent in my acceptance notice and my $100. Still waiting on answers from Boston, Tufts, and Midwestern before I can say 100% I'm going to UMDNJ but it's lookin like it. Just wonderin what were your other reasons for going there?

I tried going by curriculum but that information is hard to find for everybody for me, and then there's no really much difference I guess between them all. In my head I was ranking the schools thinking #1 Nova (but I got rejected, heh), #2 Boston if I get into their concentration into oral health program, #3 UMDNJ if I get into their dental classes, #4 Midwestern because they have a brand new dental school this fall so it'll be easier to get in there after the master's program. But yea, if i don't get into any of the dental classes at BU or UMDNJ, then I really don't know how to put one program over another really. Midwestern is a big possibility just cuz I'm not really lookin forward to going to cold NJ and Boston, but I was wait listed there.

Has anyone applied or applying to umdnj Mbs program as a non matriculated student or has anybody done that before because they couldn't make the deadline and successful matriculated.

Does anybody know about the average acceptance stats as a non matriculated student applicant? Is the only difference in the two is not having to submit a standardize test as a non matriculated applicant?

I retook org 1 and changed my grade from a D to a B
I retook gen chem 1 and changed my grade from a c+ to A-
I retook phy 1 and changed my grade from a c+ to B+

Gen chem1=a-
Gen chem 2=a
org 1=b
org lab 1=a-
org 2=b+
org lab 2=b-
phy1=b+
phy2=b-

hmmm...after I have told some people that I plan on going to school here, I have been told numerous times how dangerous Newark, NJ is. Is it really such a terrible city to live in? I have no experience living in a big city because i was born and raised in Florida. Any input would be appreciated...
 
i heard it was not a safe place for walking around and enjoying the "view".
however i was also told as long as you stay within the school premises you are VERY SAFE. i went to go check it out when i went to NJ and the school was VERY clean and well maintained. the surrounding area not so much.

NJ itself is nothing to write home about though. (i'm from upstate NY)

Its good to hear the school is safe. I will definitely try not to wander too far from it🙂
 
the mail came AGAIN and nothing. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

i really need to relax but i need to know the answer (accept/rejected) before i can make my next move.

is it taboo to call and ask them to tell you decision?
 
how long did it take you (those of you who've been accepted) to receive notice of acceptance/rejection after your application was complete? Do they call, email, or send a letter?

I got letter mailed to me saying I was accepted 2-3 weeks after I applied...
 
I received a letter in the mail today, a little more than a week after my application was complete.
 
i've never before waited so eagerly for the mailman.

figures today he'd be late.

i got mine in the mail also.

my app was complete right on june 1st, with 1 transcript coming in on june 6ish.

i'll be seeing some of you there i guess 🙂

same story with me, i was like WHEN is it going to come, my mail gets delivered @ 12:30 so that was a bit relieving. i woke up today @ 8:30 and decided to sleep till 11:30 so time would go faster 🙂

the reason why this was important was b/c i didn't apply anywhere else. thank allah i got in!!!

I just got my acceptance leter this afternoon.... I can't believe I got in...I'm in CT so i'm going next week to check the school out.... I too have heard horror stories about Newark....good luck guys..... if I do end up going there...anyone looking for a female roomate?

Sup all. I was accepted to both the Newark and Stratford program earlier this week and I'm beginning to get antsy about the housing. I'm leaning towards the Newark program and would be interested in maybe finding an apartment with some of you.

no idea where u got this information.

i called about 2 hours ago and the lady told me that the class is not full, but adcom will look at your application to see if you can take it if you select that on the acceptance letter.

=)

Yup this is true... I called the around 10am and was told that it is just a rumor
 
does anyone know how big the BMS class is? i dont think the number is given on the website and i haven't been able to get a hold of dr. wagner to ask

the 3 campuses are all separate entities, right? i understood them to be 3 different programs. does anyone know the class size for the newark campus specifically? and success rate?

Dr. Wagner told me the size of the Newark class would be around 150 students this year. They don't give specific info about the success rate.
 
does anyone know if they would still accept applications at this point? Anyone have a link?
 
i believe the deadline was june 1. but there are some other SMPs still taking applications, you should take a look at the aamc website

They are still accepting applications for the non-matriculated students (certificate seeking students) until august 1st.
