i just heard today, wednesday 12/1

I met a few people from UMDNJ and was impressed with what they said about their school, clinically and didactically. I don't think it's much of a choice.

I am also deciding between NYU and UMDNJ, but I know for fact that UMDNJ is by far a better dental school.. Stay in touch with me we'll figure something out.

I've been deciding between Tufts and NYU. NYU has the edge because it sees a huge volume of patients, my family is there, and it's NY. I want to come out of school being proficient in clinical. You only remember so much class material. Who here learned to ride a bike by reading a book and studying as opposed to getting on doing it. While I got an interview at MD I didn't go on it. I'd imagine though that MD has a decent patient pool being in the Baltimore-Washington area.

I usually don't post in these "vs" threads bec they always turn into battles and I'm more mature than that.

But anyway you mentioned patient pool and I wanted to let you know that this year alone we got 24,000 new patients 😱

Not patient visits but NEW patients. I was talking to my clinic director for my 3rd year and he said he will give us what ever we want. Not too many schools I interviewed at could even imagine doing this.

Both schools are of great caliber and don't let people tell you otherwise. The best thing to do is sit down with FACTS and list them side by side and then pick the one that suits YOU best.

Good luck.

PM me if you have specific questions

UMDNJ is cheaper. The patient population is pretty big here. You get to see and do a lot. We also have a brand new clinic yada yada yada which is all good stuff. Also they should have the new dorms up by next year.

Nonetheless, when in doubt go with the cheaper option.

Well, I dont think it should matter what your diploma reads. It is more important that you actually have one. Like I said, UMDNJ is a lot cheaper. However, first try and get into your state school if you can (if you are not a resident of NJ). Dental education is really expensive and some schools just plain rip you off. Save as much money as you can so 4 years later you can apply to any specialty if you want to without being nervous about your loans.

That sucks, man. Why are they doing this? Money?

Fundings for research. Dental school by itself gets very little fundings for research.

Well, unless you'll wipe your @ss with it otherwise it matters. It would make much more sense if they combine School of Medicine and Nursing (it'll never happen) or Medicine and Dentistry (UMDNJ). If you gonna hang it on the wall then you most likely have to explain to your patients what nursing has to do with dentistry, which is Nothing! If I'm paying $250K for my diploma, I want it to be College of Dentistry or School of Dental Medicine only.
Go to NJ if you agree to what I said. This **** stinks, bad!
