Hey everyone,

After waiting and waiting, I got a letter from UMDNJ today. I didn't get in... yet. They said they have 4 choices:
1) Accept immediately
2) applicant is acceptable but not accept at this time
3) to place on hold for further review
4) to reject the applicant

They put in category 2, which is also called the Alternate List. When there are more acceptable applicants found then they can immediately offer admission to at this time, they put you on the Alternate List. 🙁

Has anyone been on this list and gotten in? What are my chances now?

this was sent after the interview and after the admissions committee people met.

hey, just wanted to say i know we had quite a few people move off the wait list for our class. so if you're set on SOM don't get too upset. but just a heads up, i think the waitlist started moving significantly in May.
I'm not entirely sure, but i just wanted to let you guys know so you don't get discouraged.

crap! i was put on the alternate list as well. just got home and checked the mail.

mine came snail mail as well though and haha oh well. looking to get off of this thing real soon though.

i talked to Paula Watkins a few hours ago, she told me that there was a composite score the school uses to determine immediate in / waitlist / rejection, apparently i was just under the composite score needed to be accepted immediately. However she assured me that i still have a great chance of getting in and that the list tends to move pretty fast. Whether that is just some words of encouragement or is true, time will tell.

not positive, i got the impression it was based on the interview, but she didnt state exactly

haha my interviewer didn't like the fact that i had absolutely NO interest in research. 😀 oh well.

wow, im so surprised to hear this. i guess i assumed that pple good enough to interview this early had a really good chance of getting in right away. im just hoping for an interview at this point.
