Not at all - some people don't get a call when they get in, they get a letter in the mail. To think!

Why in Science's name would they do that?!?! I've been screaming into a pillow for the last 3 hours because people got phone calls and I didn't :(

...not a rhetorical question, would somebody be kind enough to answer me? What merits a phone call vs. a letter?

Regardless, there's still a very good chance I got rejected. I'm going to continue being melancholy until I get a fat envelope in the mail.

You probably did get rejected.

Really? I was thinking the same thing, but what makes you say that? Is it really because I didn't get the phone call? Is it unlikely that Paula called some people but not others about being accepted?

Also, I'm fairly certain they don't make a phone call for waitlist people, right?

I doubt schools single individuals out. If you got in, you would have received the call. Good luck with whatever.

Not all students get the "call". My friend who got in last year actually received her acceptance via snail mail (large envelope)! Good luck!:)

Can't speak for UMDNJ-SOM, but for what's it's worth, when I was accepted to CCOM I got a phone call. I later found out that they didn't call everyone the same day, some were called Monday, some were called Tuesday, etc. (I got a Tuesday call). I'm not sure when the UMDNJ adcom met, but if there were too many accepted students, they may not have had time to call everyone the same day. Food for thought...hang in there!!:luck:

I think my problem is more the fact that they called people on Friday but did not call me even though my status was supposed to be decided on the same day.

Are you saying that UMDNJSOM calls certain people but not others in the same cycle? Because that would make me feel a whole lot better.

Grinchick #5, I think I'm going to latch onto your logic for DEAR LIFE until I get some correspondence. I require no more answers! Everyone begone! I do kill messengers!

Just kidding, any more info would be appreciated. Thanks, guys.

Actually, I forgot to change my sig. It is false, but a sig has no bearing on anything.

Dag...I feel like Frankenstein's creation now. Does no one understand my sorrow?!?!?! (speaking to a forum full of applicants to med school)

Well, it is not my top option, I still have interviews at my top options. However, medical school is medical school however way you look at it. ;)

Dr. Inviz dropping the "Truf Bomb"... Yeah, you're right. For me, however, it's the difference between a $24k/yr. tuition and a $50k/yr. tuition. I is broke.

It's not a truth bomb. Look at the Wall of Fame. Look at the Class of 2011. Several people accepted to UMDNJ this year did NOT get a phone call, but waited for the mail. Who knows why? Maybe they only call people in state? They are not consistent with a lot of their communications, unfortunately. Don't assume anything until you hear it from them. Good luck!

Yeah, UMDNJ-SOM is my top choice so I do.

I doubt you were rejected, you were probably waitlisted.

I think it just depends on how busy they are!

If it's a week where they're swamped with stuff to do, they'll send out letters. If they have a bit of free time, they'll make the calls.

Don't forget the people who work in admin are out recruiting and doing things like that. If they're recruiting (for example) they won't have the time to make calls.

After my batch of interviews people got called, but mainly info has been going out by letter.

I think it's strange anyone would hear anything after 5:00PM on a Friday. I'm shocked they called, and I know other people here are suspicious if those posts were real at all. Maybe they did, maybe they didn't.

But I still doubt you're rejected. Way more people get waitlisted. As long as you didn't really screw up on your interview, I'd be very optimistic for a waitlist letter.

I really hope that the call i got from Dr. K****** congratulating me is not real and i hope you keep deluding yourself about an acceptance that is not forthcoming.

Welllll - I'm not just referring to acceptance/wait list/rejection communications. So far, compared to a lot of other DO schools, they have been pretty inconsistent with communications.

Does the fact that I haven't gotten a phone call today mean that I just got rejected? :scared:

I wouldn't assume anything just yet. When I was accepted couple of months ago, I got a phone call on the second day...meaning, there were a bunch of people who got a call the day before I got my call. Plus, unless you did horribly during the interview, you will either be accepted or waitlisted. Good luck!

See? Now THAT'S how you answer a question! You addressed every single one of my concerns in 60 words or less. You shoot straight from the hip. Thanks.

As for my interview, I thought it went very smoothly. I even made them laugh twice :)

In all seriousness though, you're all totally awesome. Thanks for helping me out. If anybody has anything else to add, that'd be great.

class of 2011? i hope never to see you in person and never to be in the same class/school with you.

Future doctor, ladies and gentlemen! ::clapping:: That's the kind of maturity and even temper that makes a physician such an esteemed figure.

Seriously, though...we believe you got the call, please don't start a fight over healthy skepticism. Life is going to be a lot more scrutinizing than a forum, pick your battles.

Hey hey heeeey! let's get back to the topic at hand: ME.

...Oh, yeah! UMDNJSOM, also. That school is so totally cool. I'm sooo expecting a waitlist letter but my interview was pretty good, so I'm going to think positive.

I'm secretly hoping for a call too even though I am on the waitlist.

I think you're solid MCAT score will help you in the end, but the waitlist won't move until may.

Good luck.:luck:

I'm sure you'll get the letter! Unless you go into the interview acting like DO is your second choice, don't know what a DO is, or mess it up some other way, it seems like they're wait-listing interviewed applicants.

:luck: :luck: :luck:

You'll do it!
