Hello!

I'm really excited about starting d-school in UMich this Fall but all this talk about UMich not having enough clinical experience is really bothering me.

Is it true that Ann Arbor is such an affluent area that students have a hard time getting patients?

All answers would be greatly appreciated, especially those from UMich students.

Thank you!!

Hi, I will be joining you in the Fall. You should not worry about not getting enough clinical experience and etc. I have shadowed and spoke to many dentists who graduated from Michigan and they all said that's not even the issue. Actually, if you graduate from any dental school across US and you put in all your effort to the profession, you should be fine.

I am sure they get enough patients around Ann Arbor, no need to worry about that.

I've been fortunate enough to have my questions about the same issues answered by current students at UofMich, and I've been told that the patient population isn't an issue as well. With a bit of work, we'll be able to have full schedules. If anything, the real problem is making sure patients actually show up for their treatments!
