Are they already moving people off the waitlist?

That's what one person said on the acceptances/wl/rej thread...

They take people off the waitlist at any time. It could be tomorrow, could be June. When I interviewed at Mich, I met a M1 who got accepted 8am on the morning of registration. He packed his bags, moved out of his apartment, and drove to Michigan that day.

That person was I. I was placed on the waitlist last week....and I just got an email today saying they are offering another "round" of acceptances and that they are offering admission. The email is from Katie Horne.

I must not be too high on their list, since I interviewed a while back and wasn't qualified enough to get an acceptance in the second round of acceptances you mention. OH well, they're not too high on my list so it is working out great so far. 😀

Why, Sundevil, are they not high on your list?

well scooby, a couple of different reasons and none which have to do with the quality of the school.

I didn't like the campus much and can't really picture myself in Ann Arbor (except maybe for the naked mile 😉 , as a spectator anyway).

I didn't get a good feeling while I was there from the students who were there. They seemed happy but it just didn't feel right for me.

I didn't really like the kind of student that UMich was recruiting which would most likely be my classmates. I got this by just observing the other interviewees.

Also, one of my interviewers was trying to make me be somebody I wasn't, just so I would look good for the adcom, and I wasn't about to play those games and I told him that so I guess I had a rough start in that respect.

These reasons may seem superficial, but unfortunately if you only have one day to make a judgement there isn't much time for anything else. Like I said, I don't doubt it's a great school but I don't think it was a good fit for me.

I felt pretty much the same way about the people there sundevil. They seemed happy and all, but something didn't quite click. I don't know if I would go there over some lower ranked schools I interviewed at.

Yea, the people who were there talking to us seemed to really love it...but the guy who went to my college and who I stayed with seemed really stressed out...and said, "Yea, I like it...it's a top 10 school..so I had to come here..."
Kinda like shrugged it off...more like ..something he had to deal with b/c it was a great school

I'm glad some other people are saying that they got a weird vibe there. I am almost positive that I will go to a lower-ranked school over Michigan, even though I can't exactly put my finger on what went wrong. I do know that I can't see myself living in Ann Arbor just for the sake of going to a "top-ten" school (this was the only one I applied to in that category so its not like I am a gunner or something). The students were really nice to me. This whole UMich thing has been bothering me so much, mainly because I would be making such a big decision based on a gut feeling.
