UMKC acceptance letters

Nothing yet for me either...at least we're all on the same page...OMG the suspense is making me crazy! 😱
 
By the way, the pharm students @ the front desk when I was leaving said that we should be receiving something in the mail sometime during the 3rd week of April, which is this week! 👍
 
Just out of curiosity, and to kill the time while we're waiting, how do you guys think your interview went? I think mine went really well, but as far as their questions go, how on earth can they differentiate between who is suitable for their school and who isn't by asking nothing but situational questions like that? Even though I think I had all the right answers, I'm not sure what I could have said that would have separated me from anyone else, or if I did @ my interview...let me know what you all think.
 
I agree, I think my interview went well also. I don't know know how they will differentiate between all of us.... Did you apply for the KC or the Columbia campus? I applied for the Columbia program, which only has 28 spots available. Did you interview on March 25th or April 1st? Do you think that it made a difference which date they set you up with....or for that matter what time you had your interview on the day?
I have become obessed with waiting for the mail to come everyday!
 
Still no "interesting" mail today. As with you guys, I felt my interview went well. They only asked me three situational ?'s and then it was open forum. No more real questions. I thought it was odd. Anyway, my interview was on the 25th @ 8am. I thought I was in the first group, but there was one group before! I do know they had a record # of Apps, around 600, and they interviewed 250, whereas in the past they only interviewed 200. We should get some good/bad news this week.
 
During my interview i stumbled over a question (due to nerves) but as a whole i think it went fine. Mine was held on the 25th at 11:30. I applied for the KC program.

Comopharm are you a current student at MU?

Does anyone mind sharing their stats? I have a 3.8 gpa and got a 60 on the PCAT. I have a B.S. in Health Information Mngmt.

I actually graduated in '04 with a BS in biology. My husband and I live in Columbia, where I work at a local pharmacy. We are already established here (own a house) which is why I applied for the satelitte program.
Stats? Nothing stellar......
GPA- 3.4
PCAT- 86
one year of pharmacy experience
I just hope its good enough! 🙂
 
Anyone check their mailbox yet today? I am debating running home and checking mine during my lunch break....I know, I'm obsessed. 🙂

My mail doesn't come until around 3pm.
 
I was too. I had my little sis stop by and check and she said no mail yet.

I only applied for the KC campus, and my interview was April 1st. I do think it made a difference which day you interviewed, but any attempt to figure out what that difference is is purely speculation. There's no way to know. I don't think the time of day mattered really. My interview was originally @ like 11:40, and they called me a few days before and asked me if I wanted to switch to 9:15. I have no idea what that means, but I did switch.
 
Got my mail........nothing from UMKC.
I also interviewed on April 1st, but at 10:35am.

Oh, I forgot, I'll be getting my b.s. in biology after this semester, and I have no pharm experience. I don't think that mattered though, I think I conveyed to them pretty well why I want to be a pharmacist.

Just got home from work and checked my mailbox and found a big envelope from UMKC. Big = good - right? So i open it w/excitement to find a letter from the Director of Admissions. I skimmed the letter quickly looking for keywords. Found nothing. One more look, nothing. I read the entire thing and it says nothing about the pharmacy program or being admitted or rejected. It just talks about being a transfer student. wtf. Did others receive this long ago? what bad timing

yea i got that before too. i actually declined my interview for umkc which was suppose to be on 4/1. but then 2 wks later, i got one of those packet and it was basically the transfer student thing.

Yeah what a psyche job huh? I got that about a week after my interview. My mail comes to my parents house so my dad called me to open it over the phone, got all excited as he was reading it because there are some parts that sound kinda good, but it was nothing! It was dated before I even had my interview. I think we need something from the actual School of Pharmacy before we can get all happy (or sad) about anything.

I got the same thing last week! I first had that same thought as you, but i figured it was a week to early. Anyway, very poor timing on their part!!
Sorry, I should have posted to beware of this faux acceptance letter!!!

Yeah this sucks. Do you live in the KC area? I live in Columbia, so I will probably get the letter the day after the KC area people and since no one has gotten anything yet....that means I probably won't see anything til like Monday or Tuesday! I am about to have a heart attack just waiting.
 
I live is St. Louis. I might send them an email tomorrow to see when we should expect something.
 
I received my Letter today. I'm IN! I can't even believe it 🙂 . The letter was postmarked the 19th. I would imagine you guys will get yours soon!
Regular envelope, 5-6 pieces of paper=thick, just in case you were wondering.

The University of Missouri-Kansas City.
It's a 1+5 program.
About the transfer packet thing...I received that last week, too. I didn't even interview there. Ugh. You would think that the powers that be would know that kind of thing. 🙂

OMG!!! CONGRATS!!!!!!! That is awesome! So scary though for me...I will probably get mY letter tomorrow. Your in the KC area, right?? Again..CONGRATS!

So I went home for lunch today around 11:30 and there was no mail yet. HOW DISAPPOINTING! I even drove throughout my neighborhood to see if the mailman was around...I know, I am stalker. He wasn't anywhere to be seen...which is weird because we normally get our mail around 10:30 or 11ish. What a day to be running late. I guess it will have to wait until after work!!!!!

Right on farmskool! I live in CO, so I should expect something tomorrow, maybe Monday. Yeah now I'm all nervous because if nothing comes, I might be getting rejected later next week or something. Thanks for the info though. Just curious, did it come with any waivers, like you had to get a certain gpa for the semester in progress or anything? this semester has been pretty rough for me. Thanks.
 
nothing in columbia either....maybe tomorrow or Monday.

It came with the condition that I complete my calculus class with a C or better and submit the completed background check by August 1st. You have to sign a waiver stating if you do not complete these things, they will take back the acceptance.

okay, I should be in the clear, I don't think I'll get anything lower than a C, and I'm not taking any pre-reqs anyway. whew. thanks 😛

I am from St. Louis and still have not heard from UMKC either butttt my good friend who is from here heard and she is in.

I wonder what is taking sooo long for these letters! :-\

does anyone know if they are sending both rejection and acceptance letters out at the same time??

I'm not totally sure, but I don't think they send them out at the same time. I would assume that they would send out the first acceptance letters, wait for those who got accepted to send back their acceptance, and then send out another wave of acceptance letters in lieu of those who declined acceptance. After the school knows that they've officially filled all of the positions, then they'll send out rejection letters. From all of the schools I applied to, that's how it worked with the interview letters; that's why all of my rejections came about a month after my classmates got their interview letters. I'm not sure that it's the same with acceptance letters, but that would be my guess. That's why I'm worried that if I don't get an acceptance letter tomorrow or Tuesday that I'm not going to get in.
