I just wanted to know since pharmacists have easy access to loads of Drugs and I mean LOADS .......do any of you occationally.. you know take some .......to ummmmm well you know "have a good time" from time to time if you know what I mean 😉
ive always been curious just thought id ask

Sorry, i worked to hard for my degree and my morals tell me NO. I was never into "consuming" drugs, just how they worked. Anyways, i still think this thread should be closed.

The more I learn about drugs and what they do and how they work, the more hesitant I am to take them. I start thinking about all the actions and reactions, and I decide that the body is perfect in the way that it was created. To have a good time, one can go to the gym, beach, on a date - not pop pills for fun. Hope that helps.

Not worth the risks...I don't know any that do. Not to mention "taking a few pills" is stealing and illegal. Not only could you lose your license, you could also go to jail.

I think there is a change that comes over you during school - or it doesn't. You realize what a huge responsibility you have, not just to do your job well, but also to be responsible about your own personal self - your morals, ethics, health & those whom you supervise.

I have known of one pharmacist who did indeed take & use drugs & was found on the floor of the narcotic room in the morning - obtunded. He was taken to the ER & in that day....lost his job, his license & was tried & convicted of a felony.

Although that price is far too high for me to pay, it would be a complete turnaround in my own ethics to even get to that point.

To the OP: There are some pharmacists that use drugs. There are some pharmacists that steal. You probably will not find people that admit to it on a public forum like this. When I finish pharmacy school I will not be one of those above mentioned pharmacists.

We already had a thread sorta related to this, but yes I know many a pharmacy and college students in general that did, xanax or other benzo's, lortabs, percocet, muscle relaxers, and adderall. The later mostly to study. This first time I found out pharmacy students did it was at a house party. A friend of mine was taking a benzo and drinking. I said wait, so, you don't die?

I have heard of pharmacists taking drugs, I have never heard of or seen a pharmacist take or steal anything from a pharmacy to get a high or have a good time off of. Not saying it doesn't happen I am sure it does, but I have never personally heard a story about it.

From the other thread I get the feeling most of the people on here are very against this and have never tried anything before. I am very against stealing from a pharmacy, but trying a medication has crossed my mind. I remember in middle school being told marijuana and alcohol was bad. I was a good kid and just thought ok its bad don't do it. Then I got to high school and it seemed like everyone or many people were drinking and smoking weed. I really thought that they were just going to die or all end up in jail. Well when I get to college and meet many people who are considered smart and going to be successfull, med students, law students, pharm students, PhD students doing it. I started to wonder about everything I had been told. then to take it even further, I have met professionals who do it, lawyers, dentists....
So I really started to wonder about everything I have been told.

Now I almost feel like everything in moderation is ok. Can you take a xanax and not get addicted? Is that ok then? Is taking your roommates adderall to study during exams bad if you are not addicted? I mean, G.W.B got a DUI, Clinton smoked weed, not to start a political debate just providing exams of highlevel people.

Its not uncommon - if you have a headache - to get a 325 Tylenol... but aside from that - NO.

There was a pharmacist in the IV center that was taking the wasted Hydromorphone and saving it (instead of wasting into the locked waste) - he was injecting a cocktail into himself. His fellow pharmacists caught on - his mood was really off, and his skill was deteriorating. Eventually - they turned him in to get counseling. He was let go from the Hospital, but didn't lose his license. I didn't know him though - I was just told the story.

Moral of the story is - if it aint your prescription - dont take it.

Um, it's not your prescription so yes it's wrong. If you have a legitimate problem and actually need adderall or whatever medication then there isn't a problem. Taking someone else's pills, addicted or not, is a problem.

I heard of a local 25 yr old or so pharmacist get busted for stealing narcotics (allegedly), failed the drug tests twice (allegedly). License revoked.
wated 6+ years of higher education, still has to pay back student loans. I can't even imagine what they will do in the future.

i do grab a motrin or tylenol when i have a headache; we all do.

funny story: we have high school volunteers putting away some of our drugs...i have a headache, grab a motrin for myself and put some in a bag to give to the nurse at the window who came to get them for her patient. nurse gets back to the floor, calls and says "honey, that was a lopid!"
says i, "oh, ****, i just took one!"

won't ever know which i got, but the headache went away. now i don't take the stock motrin without someone verifying it first!

Personally, if I knew my pharmacist, or lawyer, or my doctor smoked weed or abused a medicine, they would probably lose my business. In this case you can call me judgemental, but no thank to some one who may be impaired. 12345, in this thread I admire your honesty.
