Umsl Interview

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
really, when did you get all your stuff into them? if you dont mind me asking, what are your stats? i sent in all my stuff in too, all the paperwork was in at around 10/15 and now im just waiting to hear back on whether i get an interview or not.

I finished my application around the middle of September, so I've waited a little bit... honestly my stats aren't that great, OAT was 310 and gpa is 3.4 and I am retaking the OAT, but I've had experience in an optometrist's office and have been involved in various activities in my school, so I guess that helped...

i have around the same stats. oat was 310 and gpa is about 3.3. shadowed an optometrist and have 200+ hours of volunteer hours at a hospital. also an internship, hope thats enough to get me an interview.

I believe UMSL started the interviewing process around the beginning of October. I know that they have been interviewing for the last few weeks because I have seen them taking applicants on tours of the school. I know that it is hard waiting. If you don't hear anything by mid-Dec or so, I would consider calling the school and seeing what your chances are or what you can do to improve your stats. As can be expected, they always take the most competive applicants 1st (i.e. high OAT and good GPA).

As far as the interview goes, it is really laid-back. Usually Dr. Brown briefs the applicants before the interview on what they can expect. Another good option would be to go to one of their open houses because she always gives hints on interview questions. They may ask you about your weaknesses (bad score on 1 section of OAT, bad grade in class, etc), but I believe that it is just to see how you react. Generally, they are inviting you to an interview because they are interested in having you as a student and are trying to make sure that you are a good fit at UMSL. Hope this helps some. Good luck everyone!

I have an interview the same day (Nov. 12). I'll be seeing you there.

The interview at UMSL is a good time. Dr. Brown and Dr. Bennett are awesome. You go over academic information and a financial presentation with Dr. Brown, go on a tour with students, eat pizza, and then are interviewed by two members of the faculty. They put on a very nice program for you.

Sprig ~ Sweet! See ya there... i'm a lil nervous, hopefully we both rock our interviews...!

any last minute comments on the actual interview part...I'm interviewing tomorrow!! there are only two posts for the interview feedback section... and I didn't know if anyone just had an interview recently?!?! Thanks

Looks like i'll be North to St. Louis next fall!

I got in too!!! But i'm still confused about where exactly I want to go... For anyone that was wondering, the interview was VERY laid back and everyone was so nice... good luck to anyone else interviewing!

Just curious how long you had to wait after turning in all your materials to UMSL until then contacted you regarding an interview?
Also, any advice about the interview process? I am expecting them to contact me soon. I just took the OAT and am waiting for them to get the official results.
Thanks!

I turned in my stuff the end of September and heard from them the end of October, so it took them about a month to get back to me, but I dunno about anyone else, it might have been less for others. I was having some technical issues with the online application which could have been why it took them a while to get back to me.
