Hi guys,

I am a current second year at UMSL optometry. Due to our small class size (about 45 per class), my school hasn't had a strong presence on this site the last couple years so I want to try to change that and make sure any UMSL related questions can be answered on here! If you have any questions on UMSL optometry, I will do my very best to help you! Especially with COIVD throwing a wrench in some student's plans. I really enjoyed my first year of Optom school here! Good luck in the 20-21 cycle everyone!

Hello! I am really glad you are on this site to answer questions :) I have a couple questions for you! What has been your favorite part of choosing UMSL Optometry and if you could go back, would you have chosen differently? UMSL College of Optometry seems amazing, so I just wanted to hear your thoughts!!!

I'm not the original poster, but I also attend UMSL (class of 2024)! I only applied to one school, so I don't think I can answer the "would you have chosen differently" question. But hands down my favorite part about UMSL is the smaller class size and the faculty-student relationships. Because we have fewer people, our professors really get to know each of us. It's very apparent that they care about us, and they go above and beyond to make information relevant and understandable. I spoke with a graduating student right before I started school, and she said "I'm so jealous of you, because you are going to have the best faculty UMSL has ever had." And I 100% believe her. They have done a great job of hiring and keeping passionate faculty who really care about students.

I would highly, highly recommend this program!!

Thank you for responding! I actually have committed to attend UMSL College of Optometry Class of 2025! I couldn't be more excited about my decision. I have seen great relationships between students, and the faculty seem so incredible. They already are making me feel cared about and welcomed! The small class sizes are what impress me so much about UMSL, too, because I know I won't feel like just a number and that I will be able to easily interact with my peers and professor. I am so looking forward to attending there next fall! It is always great to hear feedback from current students in the program, so I really appreciate you taking the time to provide me with your thoughts! I am sure I will see you around next year!!

Do you mind the location in St. Louis or the fact the building is older?
